Hiya all,

Just joined this site and wanted to read any threads on “dating for the over 50s” as i had enough of those dam dating websites, especially that “plenty of fish” garbage site and thier stereotyping lists/tick boxs for mature adults:-D

I joined a few dating sites and it didn’t matter what I put they ignored it.Don’t bother with them now and have met plenty of friends on forums, and I mean met face to face, one’s coming up tonight.:lol::lol:

Welcome to the forum Danny. Like Barry, I too would be terrified of starting over - I also don’t think there could be anyone other than my OH who would put up with me. :lol::lol:

Oh I took it he was fed up of the dating sites and as this is over 50’s thought there might be some singles on here who could point him in the right direction.Not that I suppose anyone could.:-D:-D

Thanks to all of you in replying,

I’ve had quite bit of experiance with dating sites over the last 5 years and was trying to find out what other adult experiances were like as most of my friends (male and female) didn’t really like them!

Don’t think he will somehow, shame really, these dating sites are a money making scam. They say they’ll introduce to you all these people of the opposite sex (or the same if that’s your persuasion) ask for your details then the details of the person you’d like to meet, it’s all free. they ask how far would you be prepared to travel whether smoker, drinker, into sport then completely ignore you and send anyone’s details, then so and so left you a message,yes but then you have to pay to read it, so it’s not free, they just want your money. I tried it so I know what he means about them. There are a lot of lonely people who just want someone to go out with for a drink or a meal, and they’re trying to meet that someone. Doesn’t mean they want to dive into bed with them.:-):slight_smile: Sorry bit of a hobbyhorse of mine this as is the ones who say they’re single and aren’t.:-):slight_smile:

Thank you for your reply, its exactly how i and my frineds have experianced the whole dating site “con”.

There are genuine people on these dating-site but loads of immature, selfish, hidden agendas, liars and cheats as some people like to over-market them self on thier profiles.

I have had all sorts of incidents some of them really funny looking back but all in all pretty much a waste of time and money, as you said the companies are just taking advantage of lonely folk!!!
