I havent read through all this thread but it seems most people have had very slight or no reaction to the vaccine which is good…I thought hard about posting here because I think its important people do get the vaccine so we can all get back to normal.
Unfortunately I have had a bad reaction…I had the first vaccine Astra Zeneca a few weeks ago and I had flu like symptoms nothing too bad but it made me feel poorly…I just took paracetamol and had an early night.
I had the second jab on Tuesday at 2.30pm again similar symptoms so went to bed early and thought nothing of it…unfortunately next morning thats yesterday I woke up and the room was spinning I tried to stand up but I just couldn’t get my balance then I started to vomit. Hubby dialed 111 they got a doctor to ring and he prescribed some anti sickness medication…the whole day was terrifying I couldn’t stand and continuous retching…I’m never ill…I have never stayed in bed even if I feel off I get up and get on with stuff but this knocked me for six. OK just one day but truly a terrible day…so frightening.
I feel OK this morning…waiting to see if it comes back…fingers crossed it doesn’t. I just googled my symptoms and it seems lots of people have had this reaction some say it can go on for weeks…hope not.
Glad to hear you are feeling better today, Summer. It’s strange how this affects some people and not others. My son had the
same vaccination and he felt awful two days after for a couple of days. He put his down to being asthmatic.
It took me about 3 weeks to fully get over the first vaccine and the first week was the worst. So Summer I’m pretty worried about having the second. I didn’t throw up but I did have some of the dizziness you mention. Although the symptoms tended to come and go. I’d feel ok for a few hours and then get hit by a wave of feeling weird, tired, dizzy. The muscle pains haven’t quite resolved although I’m no longer aching all over like I did for days.
I wouldn’t say I’m as well as I was before the vaccine. I’m still not 100% on my energy levels particularly in the evenings. But I’m a hell of a lot better than that awful first week. My reaction is unusual in its severity, but it is extremely unusual for me to have any reaction to a vaccine.
The dizziness is real. I thought I was close to seeing pink elephants and unsteady on my feet. Completely lost my appetite. What do you eat when you feel so rough? I think I had some clear soup. It’s all a bit fuzzy , just a memory of lots of pain weakness and fear of what was happening.
Thanks for sharing your reactions to AZ jabs. That’s precisely the reason why I and a lot of other people over here prefer one of the other two vaccines about which similar reactions have hardly been heard. Let alone more severe side-effects.
Nothing to do with “big pharma”, “money”, protectionism" and similar stuff as ventilated in other threads. People just want to get over it without any problems. It’s not politics-related whatsoever but a purely private decision. So our Home Secretary said today, too.
Don’t quote me on this, as its second hand info…but when Mr P was collecting his meds from the chemist, the woman who served him was having a chat about the jags, and said that she had had both. The second one was worse for her because it was a double dose. Now we aren’t sure what she meant by that, and he didn’t like to ask, but interesting nonetheless. Is it because you have had one vaccine and adding another, or is the second one an actual doubler? I do doubt that bit myself, I have to say. Why would they do that?
both doses are the same size but if you have two then you have a double dose like a double vodka or a double gin in different glasses on different days.
