Covid-19 Vaccinations

See what l mean!!

I read an article in the Telegraph, where it stated that if Jeremy Clarkson was describing the two vaccines on Top Gear. The Pfizer would be a Porsche and the Oxford would be a Fiat Punto!

I was Pfizered a week ago - I have an appointment, on April 24th, for my second dose

:lol: Well that knocks my theory on the head!

Yes Art, we had the second batch Pfeizer vaccination on 9/1. Those who had their jabs in Dec were lucky to also have their 2nd one 3 weeks later. Unfortunately it was decided to extend it up to 12 weeks not long after we had ours.

It was a disappointment at first but now I am happy to know that this now allows more people to receive their first vaccination.

My husband had his first Pfizer jab on 30th December - he is 90 years old. The second one was booked for 20th January but was then postponed until March, we are still awaiting a date. I had my first Pfizer jab last Saturday and was told that they would contact me in 12 weeks for the second. Both my husband and I are happy with the arrangement because it means that more people can get their first jab and that could be saving more lives.

When you get your Covid jab do you get a certificate? According to our news today we will get a certificate of vaccination emailed to us, I wondered what the UK was doing.

Your thoughts are the same as mine, Margaret. Extending the dates will go a long way to extending more lives. We are going nowhere so a few more weeks waiting won’t hurt us.

We have got the new South African variant in Worcestershire,
Everyone in a section on the north side of Worcester is being asked to be tested.

I am keeping my fingers crossed the snow doesn’t prevent my getting vaccinated on Monday and that the new variant hasn’t spread by then :-(.

Hi

I am Covid Positive and have been on oxygen treatment in hospital.

I did think that I would get the vacine, but no.

I will not get the vacine until 28 days after my first positive Covid Test.

Earliest chance is first week in March.

Meg  I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Monday and hope you make it to the surgery.

Thanks Mags  there are weather warnings for snow here.
I live south of the city and won’t be in contact with anyone except the vaccination team unless I have to cancel because of snow and then get sent to the vaccination hub in Worcester.

Someone in my health support group has posted some new detailed research from the USA about the risks of those with any form of arrhythmia, existing or C19 newly acquired contracting the virus and it doesn’t look good so I will take even more care now.

That seems odd doesn’t it Swimmy  I read somewhere that if you have C19 they won’t vaccinate you because it is deemed you will now have a level of immunity so best to give it to someone else.

When I went in, I was asked if I had any “conditions”.

I said that I had been Tachy,/Brachy, and was now using a pacemaker & blood thinner.

I even mentioned that the pacemaker had been in there for a lot of years and recent tests suggest it was falling apart, but that made no difference, and, after a quick check, they did the Jab.

No after effects in the last month.

Fear not!

But do tell them what you have!

Make sure they check “up their chain of command”

If anyone is wondering what is in the vaccine, the official fact sheet is here

Always best to check what is being injected into your body

Hi Ted  I am told they are not interested in most existing condition only C19 neither do I think in this instance my pre existing condition is relevant to being vaccinated .

I do not fear having the vaccination with an existing condition but the possibility that I may not get to the GPs surgery due to snow . I do not wish to delay getting vaccinated for a moment longer than I have too.
My condition is very active every 10 days and highly symptomatic leaving me barely able to function, the new research in the USA confirms my suspicions that if I catch C19 I am at high risk of having serious problems.

Thanks Bob  but the Vaccines used vary and have different content. In this instance I don’t care what is in it I want to get it as soon as possible and seem to be having a long wait compared with some around here .

Meg,

I suggest an online chat, or a call back chat, with your Doctor, at whatever your practice is.

Better safe than sorry.

Why do that Ted  I know I am better informed about my condition than my GP and even in some areas my Electrophysiologist who seems unaware of some the latest trials and even the NICE guidelines. I read all the research I can .

I know what is best for me and that is getting vaccinated as soon as possible and preferably before the new SA variant which is now active a few miles away reaches this area.

I share your concern Meg, I also suffer with Arrhythmia, but for the last few years I have been in very good health and am loath to put that at risk on the off chance that I might catch the virus. I am not an anti-vaxxer but am super careful what I put in my body, I tend to err on the side of caution where medication is concerned. I have no wish to put anyone off having the jab, in fact having the jab is possibly the right thing to do and I might be doing myself harm by not having it. I will wait and see what the future brings before I make my decision. All the best Meg, and I hope that the vaccine keeps you safe and with no after effects
