When did you have the first one, Angel?
JBR, l had it done on Sunday 24th January.
Many people have been given their second appointment but it seems they had the Oxford vaccination.
I have to wait until l hear from my doctorās surgery.
Iām sure there are Scotā¦
Well, give 'em a chance, Angel! Itās not been two weeks yet.
I believe itās quite normal to wait for 12 weeks.
Iām not entirely happy about this mixing of vaccines to be honest. Iām all for them, and canāt wait for mine, but Iām not quite sure why they feel the need to mix them, unless its to get more people covered. I would rather wait and get both the same, than get two different ones closer together I think.
I think they are looking to see if it would give you a broader cover. I donāt think they would mix them at present.
I agree, and Iām sure they wouldnāt do anything before ensuring that such an action would be perfectly safe.
Thank you JBR, and Scot37, I am mildly reassured by that. So much has been going on, and so many U-Turns done that I really am wary of the Govt intentions now!
I had my jab at the beginning of January, was told they would get in touch in 12 weeks.
According to the radio this morning Australia has 120 million doses of vaccine on order, enough for at least 60 million people.
Australia has a population of 25 million so the surplus is going as foreign aid to countries that canāt afford it. The idea is that international travel cannot resume until everyone in every country is vaccinated.
Also somebody calculated that to achieve the aim of every Australian being vaccinated by October will mean 200000 vaccinations every day.
Having said that only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for use in this country. The delay on the AZ vaccine is because of the lack of data on its effectiveness on people over 50 years. I donāt know what is happening with the Novavax approval.
That always makes me laugh. āIf you experience any side effects, see your doctorā. Iāve got more chance of seeing Haleyās comet.
Are you sure you haven,'t had viagra instead?.
Oh God, Viagra doesnāt do that to you as well, does it?
The reason for this is that the first batches of people who were invited to have their first vaccination, were at the same time given appointments for their second vaccination. When Boris and gang decided to extend the time between first and second jabs, surgeries who arranged both first and second appointments, refused to contact all those people again to cancel the second appointment.
I had my vaccination yesterday morning and was surprised at my reaction to it during the night! :surprised:
I havenāt slept very much as I had very painful muscles, so around 4.30 am I took 2 paracetamol & propped myself up with a few pillows. By 5.15 I managed to fall asleep & woke to find my bedding was very damp. I checked my temperature and it was 37.9ā¦so not above 38 , when you should contact your doctor. but my cheeks were very pink!
It is now almost 8am and I feel fine, but keeping the paracetamol near in case I need any more.
Everybody on OFF seems to have not had problems, but I just wanted to let people know that, if you follow the instructions to deal with side effects, the paracetamol does help ā¦ so donāt worry!
I will let you know if I have any more unpleasant side effects!
Hi
Having been in hospital with Covid I cannot have my first vaccination until 12th March at the earliest.
I will have side effects simply because I have Covid Antibodies already.
I will still have the jab, you do not want to end up on a Covid Ward.
Yes JBR, l understand that but l think itās because most people l know were either given two appointments at the time of booking or at the time of their vaccination.
All of the people l know who have a date for their second vaccine had the Oxford vaccination.
I donāt donāt know anyone who had the Pfizer vaccination that has a second appointment.
My second vaccination is on 27 March exactly 10 weeks after my first. I had the Oxford vaccine.
Mags, l have waded back through the posts on this thread as l felt sure l read that you also had the Pfizer vaccination but l canāt find the post!
If you did, donāt you think itās odd that the people that had the Pfizer havenāt been given a second appointment yet most āOxford peopleā have?
I am not complaining about it as l am sure l will hear eventually, this is more of an observation on my part.
