I had my letter to book at vaccination this morning but the centers are miles away and will have long queues and the Three Counties Showground center nearby won’t be ready until late February now .
I am going to wait for my GP who has already done 3000 vaccinations and is onto the over 70’s and vulnerable, so I shouldn’t have long to wait
If you look at the noise coming out of the EU, there are quite a few times someone in there says something along the lines of “we paid less than the UK”.
It’s almost as if they don’t think that EU citizens see that - from what they are suggesting - money comes before they do.
This fiasco will haunt the EU, I’m certain of it.
They’re making things worse for themselves by trying to play a blame game that everybody realises is just squirming, too.
Fingers crossed for you Meg.
They do seem to be really cracking on so hopefully your turn won’t be long.
Mrs Zaphod was offered a jab at the end of last week (as a key worker); spares unused by the GP, but she couldn’t at that time so she missed out.
A few in her workplace have been able to take them up though.
Thank you Zaphod what a shame Mrs Z missed out , better luck next time.
Good news at least that you have been contacted Meg.
I hope your local surgery will contact you very soon, especially knowing your heath history. Fingers crossed for you. x
It’s good to hear that all the really aged people on here have had their treatment. That’s how it should be.
As for me, as a 68 year old spring chicken, I haven’t heard anything yet. And when it comes to Marge, as she is nothing much more than a 59 year old schoolgirl, it could be years before they get around to her!
Anyway, when our times do come, I’d be interested to know which jab they are offering. Do they actually tell you when you are called?
I’d much prefer the AZ vaccine to the Pfeizer one, as the latter must be kept at such a low temperature that there is always the worry that it may have been exposed to a higher temperature and consequently have lost its effectiveness. I’d even be happy to pay for the AZ option, if that were possible.
JBR we weren’t informed which vaccine we would be having until the actual day we received the jab … we both had the Pfeizer one. No problems at all with it.
Thanks Mags I do have the option now to make an appointment if I don’t hear from my GP but I don’t want to risk going anywhere with lots of people. There are no queues at my GPs with just a couple of appointments at a time.
Mags my GP is using Pfeizer in conjunction with another practice to get the correct dosage numbers. I am a bit concerned that the EU is now now going to prevent anymore doses of Pfeizer vaccine leaving the EU making it difficult to get a second dose. I hope they can sort themselves out very soon before second doses are due
Yes Meg, it does worry me whether we will get back the second vac, we were told it would be within 12 weeks, that would be 20th March - 3 weeks have passed now. We are hoping they may decide to bring the date forward a bit.
Mags, I wasn’t given a date for my second Pfizer injection. It is rather worrying whilst there is this altercation going on between the U.K. and the EU about further vaccine supplies.
Today, l received a letter from the NHS inviting me to book my vaccine. My heart dropped when l realised it was to invite me for my first injection that l had last Sunday!
I was texted to invite me to have that done but now l’ve also received this letter.
I think wires are getting crossed somewhere in the NHS as this has happened to others too.
Edited to say… l have now received a text to remind me l need to book my appointment for my Covid vaccination…the first one!
We heard last night that a town not that far away from us (but not where we live) is already vaccinating the 60+ age range. Good for them. We’ll be hearing in the next week or 2 according to our GP centre.
According to this report in today’s DE (yes, I know ) Katya Adler has reported that the claim by Brussels it had invested €300million (£265million) to help AstraZeneca develop the vaccine and to produce the jab in mass quantities has been grossly exaggerated. She added, “In reality, Brussels has yet to hand over a substantial lump of the promised amount.” She went on to claim other “EU accusations just don’t add up”.
Not only that but I read somewhere else that they’ve paid only less than about €1.50/dose compared with us paying ~£4.70-ish and Israel paying even more/dose.
So, more bullsh!t from the EU again.
I wonder what the EU is making of the news regarding the new vaccine that’s being made in Northumbria and will be ready for use come summer.
We certainly have Boris a lot to thank for, he was definitely on the ball making sure we would receive the vaccines.
Abso-blooming-lutely.
Well that’s my old mum sorted out. Took her for her C-19 jab at the main Boots Chemist in town. Very efficient and no delays as each appointment was for a specific time. After confirming her details, we were ushered into a waiting area with the seats the required distance apart and after a wait of perhaps five minutes were shown into the treatment area. A quick roll-up of the sleeve, a quick jab, and out again. She will need another one sometime in April. Hers was the Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
Just had a text from the GP with a code and I have booked in for a vaccination on Monday week, the 8th and the first available appointment .
I lost a second filling from a tooth this week so hope to get it sorted in 4 weeks time when I will hopefully have built some immunity, enough to dare to venture out to the dentist that is but won’t risk anywhere else except maybe the optician to repair my specs :-).
Wonderful news Meg! You’re on your way!
I have another appointment with my dentist next Tuesday for a filling and a repair to a cracked tooth. I had an extraction 3 weeks ago just after I had my first jab … I felt more confident going after.
Sorry, l should have included in my post… Great news for those who have now received their invite to have, or have had their Covid vaccination.
Art,
If that happened to me, I’d be very tempted to go through the process again right up to sitting at the desk with the Vaccinator person.
When they see that you’ve already been done, they might well just clear it all up by doing the second one!
Mrs LD has hers booked for next week. Had to book on line and could book the time but surprised she could not change the day. Got to drive fifteen miles for it.
