What is interesting is that the numbers being hospitalized has fallen considerably (even if the figures are a little bit out of date) which should mean that the number of daily deaths should also soon start to fall.

The UK has administered more than 48 million first doses so far.

But attention is increasingly falling on those who haven’t had it. Speculation has centred on which dancers on Strictly Come Dancing have so far not taken up the offer, as well as how many Premier League footballers are potentially unvaccinated.

Exactly how many are yet to receive a Covid jab is unknown, but it’s estimated it is more than five million people aged 16 and over in the UK.

AFAIC, the unvaccinated are a threat to themselves and a threat to others … :-1:

I think it will remain high for some time…

Scotland is heading towards “herd immunity”
I’m sure that’s a real comfort to the families of the 28 people who died today (with, or from, Covid)

I too think that infection numbers will stay high for a while yet but the numbers of both deaths and hospitalisations is still in decline, and if that trend continues those are the more important numbers to watch.

Indeed, despite a high vaccination rate among the UK population (+16 - 83% (2nd), 90% (1st)), new cases are still approaching 1,000,000 a month, deaths number 4,000 a month and new hospitalisations are running at 30,000 a month.

Horrifying isn’t it…

It certainly is … new cases two doors down from me were almost certainly the result of primary school transmission … :exclamation:

Well I always expected schools returning to spike the figures. Up here it took a mere fortnight for it to get a grip, with classes being sent home, teachers being off or isolating…so much disruption. All we can do is stay masked up and clean, because I don’t know any other answer just now :woman_shrugging:

I’ve re-adopted wearing a mask to answer callers at the front door - just in case … :mask:

(They might want to engage in conversation … :scream_cat:)

That’s not a bad idea really…I live in a close of 8 flats, so I always wear a mask when leaving the house to go down or up the stairs (on returning home). Its a shared space, with various family and friends coming in too, so taking no chances. :astonished: :mask:
