This s worrying “AZ has no protection against Omicron”
So, the population takes all the chances on new technologies, just to find, the crafty virus has mutated, well, make of that what you will.
Isn’t the history of mankind littered with things that have tried to wipe us out? No surprises there.
Of course it is, and every day that passes, the decision process gets more critical.
Just came across this article which tries to explain why the UK is the canary in the cage.
For example:
“Being an island has been a clear advantage for other countries during the pandemic, but the UK has proved an exception. One factor above all helps explain why.”

Things are now at their worst in NSW, more new cases than Victoria had at its worst.
Its a risky business, being in the UK.
Excellent article Bruce, I came to the same conclusion over a year ago…It’s not rocket science, and you don’t need to be an Oxbridge scientist to figure it out…
This was the scene over British Skies at 7:30 am this morning. We are flogging a dead horse while ever this is happening…
Moring Foxy.
Oooh I see you Foxy!..happy dance
Perhaps Foxy would like to post that piccie as
this year’s Christmas card in an appropriate thread?
Tunisia looks nice.
Aye, not so busy at this time of year. Plenty of social distancing
Yep, science can’t beat the basics.
Good morning Bob, hope you are feeling reasonably OK now.
Couldn’t agree more with you about all these flights. If my memory serves me correctly, when the pandemic first started there were around 20,000 people in and out of the UK daily and nothing was done to stop this?
I reckon had all this been stopped then and the country locked down properly for a few months,
we wouldn’t be in the appalling state we are now, almost two years on!
If the entire planet could have gone into a hard line lockdown for a few weeks, at exactly the same time, then I believe that the whole thing would have been over a long time ago. This would have required unpalatable hardship at the time though.
If the UK had gone into the kind of lockdown that I think you’re suggesting, then things might have improved, but only until transportation of goods and people resumed, at which point we’d have ended up in precisely the same quagmire that we’re in now.
IMHO, although the UK does indeed seem to be world leaders in something that it’d rather not be world leaders of, on the plus side we might actually be further down the line to coming through all of it than the majority of other countries.
Thanks Baz, my left arm is severely restricted in it’s movement but I expect it will come good once all the bruising has come out, and I’m still feeling a bit wobbly on my feet, so I’m under orders to take it easy for a while.
I do agree with you about shutting the whole country down Dex, and it would only delay the inevitable, but Australia seems to have done well by limiting everyone coming and going, especially flights.
I don’t think anyone expected it to be eradicated with lockdowns and vaccines alone, but tried to spread out the effects on the NHS and give our hospitals some breathing space.
Bruising can be very painful, as I know only too well after a couple of motorcycle accidents some years ago. Just give it time and you will soon be feeling better, the bruising will disappear and hopefully with it the pain.
If you had seen me after my heart attack too you wouldn’t believe it, bruising from armpit right down to as far as possible and all due to the numerous injections into my waist / stomach area. It was so bad the injections eventually had to be started on the other side!
I have relatives in Australia so hear news from them, I also read comments on OFC from forum members so I can only agree with your comment about lockdowns and restricting flights. My thoughts are that could have been the UK at the start of the pandemic too, that didn’t happen though so now it is what it is.
I am more than happy for anything do do with Covid to be discussed here as per thread heading. I think that is better than starting a plethora (love that word) of Covid threads.
Top man Bruce. Hopefully the TL3’s will permit it and not start getting all uppity if things deviate a bit. Perhaps we could start a coding system of our own so we know which sub discussion we are alluding to in here. Instead of the Greek alphabet, maybe we should use the Semitic abjads and thus start with Aleph.
