I don’t know about hospitalisations but my colleague has been taken ill with the virus and this is the 2nd time in only short weeks. He is very poorly, hadn’t had his booster so perhaps it is the booster that is keeping people from becoming as ill as the delta variant?

It’s likely your colleague has the delta variant. It’s still very much in circulation.

70% of people in hospital get covid while they are in there. They are admitted for other ailments.
Only 20% of people are being treated for covid in hospital.
Here’s some more data. In the meantime the fear mongering is all starting to unravel.
Meanwhile there are 180k cases in France so banning British people hasn’t worked either.

New data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has revealed that 42.9 per cent of confirmed Omicron patients requiring hospital treatment in Yorkshire, are unvaccinated - the highest proportion of any region in England.
The data also revealed that 16.7% of suspected omicron cases in Yorkshire hospitals are also unvaccinated individuals.
Yorkshire even beat London, where infection cases are skyrocketing, as the percentage of unvaccinated confirmed Covid cases in the capital’s hospitals, stands at 41.7 per cent.
Nice one Omah, however, the ‘Yorkshire live’ does not feature in the Wiki list of Yorkshire newspapers…?
Which means that it has been recently set up in an attempt to further the vaccination programme. Funny how that report does not appear in any of the mainstream Yorkshire newspapers. Not even on the BBC…
But that aside, why do they always give statistics quoted as a percentage?
Even if those figures are correct (42.9% of omicron patients are unvaccinated) that means that 57.1% of patients are Vaccinated who presented with omicron. That would suggest to me that the vaccines have had no effect whatsoever!

But if over 80% of the over 12’s are double vaccinated that would mean the 42.9% came from less than 20% of the population.
