I am not really sure although with so many failing to manage birth control procedures in their own lives I think there may be !
I suppose Corrie is watched by all age groups, so there is going to be someone who hears about these sort of procedures for the first time.
I did wonder if they should have asked for Leanne to sign a consent form to be able to perform the operation, or is this not necessary for an emergency?
She certainly did look better but it didn’t do much for her personality unfortunately - she’s still quite bitchy.
I wondered about that too - even though it would be considered an emergency, surely the hospital would want to protect itself as much as it can if a spouse or other family member is present before the op begins?
They probably realised how thick she was! I forgot about the consent. Pfft! Yes, absolutely right. I had to sign consent for Mum’s while in Athens, but when I came back home they went ahead with another procedure obviously without signature. Cos I wasn’t there.
I said that to my husband that wouldn’t they ask Leanne to sign a consent form;-)
Actually, I took that to mean “What are the implications” or “Why does he need a CT scan” rather than “What is a CT scan”. But who knows…
Was more miffed that they didn’t ask her to sign a consent form for his surgery…
Good God Leanne is stupid!
I quote from tonight’s episode - “They haven’t corroborated statements, whatever that means”.
See Julie is back, maternity leave must be over.
I missed a few minutes of it as I was on the phone. Didn’t even notice Julie was back, or even Stella from her holidays.
I am actually getting tired of Leanne. She’s either showing stupidity or exclaiming ‘yer know what…?’ When having a row.
Well, not everybody is clever about knowing all sorts of things, especially medical stuff, but I do understand what you mean.
In the case of an emergency operation a signature is not required if it means life or death due to serious injury i.e. road traffic accident or other such life threatening incident. However, it is required if it’s life saving following a prolonged illness, such as cancer, tumour, organ replacement etc.
If someone is taken to hospital with an ephemeral bleed, for example, or they had a patient on board an ambulance who had stopped breathing, hospital staff don’t take the time to track down a relative to get a signature whilst a patient is bleeding to death or needs immediate response like a heart attack, as time is of the essence in many cases.
Or is that me being thick? I’d like to think that a hospital would whisk me off to theatre immediately if my very life was in danger without wasting time trying to find somebody who would sign a form to keep me alive!
Sorry, but not everybody knows what a CT scan is, or an MRI, unless they’ve been involved with such things before.
“They haven’t corroborated statements …” Well yes, that was a stupid comment, but let’s not rush to judgement on the intellect of all.
Nick’s family are not medically trained, so will quite naturally be panicking because of his condition and asking questions which we all would.
Be a little more patient folks. I know it’s only a soap, but certain things do reflect on real life, and this is one of them where the family are genuinely concerned about a loved one who may die. Put yourselves in that situation.
That’s true, but if a relative is there before the patient has surgery consent would certainly be obtained from the relative first.
She irritates the life out of me. When she was demanding to know the possible outcomes for Nick, I looked at Gail, David and Audrey and thought: do they actually want to know that right now? I’d have checked with the rest of his family first and Leanne wanted to know all the possibilites, it should have been just her and the consultant. Imagine how people who have relatives in Nick’s position - do they really need or want to be told all of that?
We all know he’ll make a miraculous recovery - they always do
To me, looking at Nick all trussed up, it didn’t need the conformation of a medic to know that the prognosis ain’t good.
The hospital have put him in an induced coma to give his brain time to heal from the surgery - he could be absolutely fine (remember the kerfuffle over Peter may never walk again? Not only did he walk again, he did it in record time )
I was in a induced coma after a car crash and a friend of mine after falling off a horse , both of us for 2 weeks … and both of us are well and fit ,took time and i have loss of memory ofthat period … but its possible he could be fine … I looked alot worse than him… friends and family who vistied me did not reconise me
Do you think they’ll pin his ears back while he’s unconscious?
Well they have so far had three different actors playing Nick, so maybe he’ll have plastic surgery…
Pardon me?
Another Corrie star been suspended, the actor who plays Tommy Duckworth, this time over rape lyrics he put to a rap song he performed on youtube.
3 down, how many more to go?
