Coronavirus

Coud be a double bluff though.

No problem. The companies which have a shortage of drivers will simply hire others. In any event, most truck drivers are not in the high risk groups. So, it is unlikely that they will self isolate in mass. If I was a healthy 30 yr old, I would not self isolate.

Yep. I just suggested that to donkeyman too, Susan.
It won’t work to put age limits on deliveries.

Ive got my 6 monthly check up in the next week or two as well Tiff.
I wondered if the dentists will still be doing routine work?
I would imagine they are not happy about working in people’s mouths at the mo - not sure how I feel about him poking about in mine at the mo either, even though they usually wear a mask.
Think I will give mine a ring tomorrow and ask what the position is.

Woolworths have announced that as from tomorrow only people holding an age or disability pension card (or Senior Card) will be allowed in the supermarket between 7am and 8am.

New coronavirus vaccine trial will start on Monday.

Though it has not yet been publicly announced, MSN has said the following. People age in their 40’s will be tested first. Some will get a “normal dose”, others will get a double and even a triple dose.

As we speak, a “short term temporary” vaccine is nearing completion. It is said that it may give immunity for 2-3 months until a long term vaccine can be developed and tested on volunteers.

What is happening in California.

The governor has ordered that all bars, brewing pubs, wine brewing/tasting stores to be closed indefinitely. In 'Man-on-the-street" interviews, pub crawlers are quite upset. One man said, “What do they expect me to do? Just go sit in the park?” Aw, poor baby.

He also ordered that restaurants limit their customers to 50% of capacity.

Most houses of worship have canceled services and that services will be held “on-line”.

All mass gathers of people, are banned: sporting events, concerts etc.

Blood banks are in desperate need of more donations. However a shortage of test kits is hampering donations.

Free food banks are working around the clock give needed supplies. Priority is given to senior citizens and people with underlying health conditions.

Libraries and museums are closed.

The governor has made a nationwide appeal for more ventilators. he said, “If you manufacture ventilators, we will buy all you can produce”. Though California currently has enough for todays needs, hospitals could easily need many more soon.

Hi

Maybe where you are are, but we have a shortage here.

Hmm. Really ? That is an odd state of affairs. The UK, being a 1st world country, I’d have thought that the reverse was true.

It’s interesting to note that there have been protests in Hong Kong, France, and many European countries that have not been reported on most of the news media channels, especially the BBC. Then along comes a virus that started in China and has resulted in people having to stay indoors and not congregate…Coincidence?..Just saying…

Furthermore, how do we know that all the reported cases are coronavirus? At this time of year there are several viruses doing the rounds that all have the same symptoms.
Checking temperature and bloods will only suggest that you have ‘A’ virus. In order to specify coronavirus, samples have to be taken and grown in the lab for a fortnight before a specific virus can be identified, yet figures are adjusted overnight…

A number of states have moved to cancel some Anzac Day services and ban the public from attending others in an attempt to thwart the spread of coronavirus.

The RSL branches in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia have made the decision more than a month out from the April 25 memorials.

A selection of dawn services will be held across the country but the public will be asked not to attend. Any marches or midday services will be cancelled.

The ASX 200 has posted its biggest daily percentage fall on record, after coronavirus fears fuelled a steep sell-off that accelerated into the close.

The benchmark index closed down 9.7 per cent at 5,120 points on Monday, falling more than 2 per cent in the final minutes of trade.

Since 20th Feb the stock Market has fallen 30%

And still there are some who dismiss this as a fuss over nothing and say it is just a common cold and we are just panicking because of the media stories.
For goodness sake , GET REAL!! This is serious.

Hi

I fear you may have misinformed about the testing timescale Bob.

We have the genetic sequencing for Covid 19 so no need to grow in a lab for two weeks.

The results can be found in hours.

Just listening to Grant Shapps on the Today programme and to clarify a couple of points which will probably be stated in the daily press conference later…

The elderly and vulnerable will at some stage be asked to limit contact with people for their own welfare not told,
They will still be able to go out for walks etc and I guess will be advised to take sensible measures like hand washing.

So those of Us over 70 isolate Ourselves for 4 Months…what then…will it be safe for Us to come out of isolation in July?..that’s if We don’t put Our heads in the oven or take an overdoze before then…We’re just getting mixed messages and now I’m fearful…how the hell did this killer virus get from a market in China to infect 6 residents of a nursing Home in My very small Town in Scotland who were never anywhere near China or Italy?

Mr Hancock said ministers are yet to make a decision on whether to ban gatherings of over 500 people in the rest of the UK

Nicola Sturgeon made this decision last week for Scotland only…,as You can see the UK ministers haven’t banned crowds of over 500 in the rest of the UK …yet.

Asked/Advised?

Of course…compulsory internment would be unenforceable except by force under martial law.

The Government in Westminster has stated many times that when they need to ban large gathering which will be done to redeploy key services like police/ ambulances/first aiders they will do so but we haven’t reached that stage yet. Nicola Sturgeon is aware of the resources she has available and has chosen to make different decisions her choice.

PD  'Asked advised 'it is pretty much the same but not the same as ‘told on penalty of punishment’ which is some of the nonsense I have heard going about.
