In Spain authorities are using drones to police people out on the streets when they should be isolating. There are different ways to manage this and encourage the public to take precautions to prevent spread. We should take the example of other nations. Austria has now banned gatherings of more than five people. Very sensible.
How does a drone know who is supposed to be isolating and who doesn’t have it and needs to go out for some food or something?
Not sure that would do the slightest bit of good Annie.
Look at this:
" But according to research by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, it’s not just the person next to us we should worry about: coughing spreads droplets as far as six metres, and sneezing as much as eight metres. These droplets stay suspended in the air for up to 10 minutes."
I agree with you Poohdog.
It is not going to be at all feasible for most people, except perhaps for those in care homes where their food is brought to them all their needs taken care of.
In towns over sixtyfives should get all the delivery slots at
supermarkets to get home deliveries! Nobody younger should be
eligible for home deliveries till the pandemic is over unless they
can prove they are infected?
Out of towns maybe meals on wheels could help out by doing the
deliveries and get a small incentive from the government?
Donkeyman!
I’ve never heard sneezing being referred to as a CV symptom!
When all this is over, someone somewhere will do an analysis of the statistics and from what I see so far, the UK is NOT doing well.
Example:
So far we have 35 deaths from 1372 cases.
Switzerland have 14 deaths from 2217 cases.
Why are we told the rest of the world is in awe of our NHS when it’s undoubtedly obvious we don’t have enough of anything to keep our people alive!!
Sunday, 29th March.
Clocks forward.
yeah, I always remember it as March forward, Fall back
Our death rate is in direct proportion to our proportion of older
citizens Lindy!
Donkeyman!
Yet Nicola Sturgeon wants to only ban crowds of more than 500!
Difficult that one, donkeyman.
I agree in principle, but then sometimes people younger than 65 probably need home deliveries sometimes too, like perhaps disabled and/or wheelchair users?
Nothing is straightforward is it.
my best friend always orders her shopping online from Morrisons and she was telling me today she has done an online shop but the earliest slot she could get was a week on wednesday!!! Seems like many people are definitely shopping online right now
But coughing is Lindy, and if you look again, it says coughing can spread droplets for 6 metres, so standing just one metre apart won’t do a darn thing to ensure safety if someone is coughing near you…
I think in Spain nobody is meant to be going out at the moment.
Just for perspective, in 2018 there were 26,610 people killed or seriously injured on our roads. And people panic about bog rolls??
I tend to breathe in when I walk past anyone in the shop and breathe out once i’m well away. It’s just people in queues that are annoyingly close. But at the end of the day we can only do our best to avoid this.
A problem I find with home delivery is that one has to spend at least £35 to get a delivery.
Yes, I’d go along with that, BUT what happens when you’ve ordered something and receive something quite different?
Actual examples I have read are 46 nappies ordered but hair dye delivered, or worse, Lindt chocolate ordered and replaced by Cadbury’s ‘chocolate’.
Even worse would be ordering a banana and being sent a vibrator (I made that one up… I think!).
They should bring back the milk round. I think that as well as milk you used to be able to get bread, eggs, bacon and juice from the van. It’s pretty much all you need to survive.
