Coronavirus

I agree. We can only do what we can. I was thinking also of those customers who like to rummage through supermarket shelves in the hope of finding a product with a later sell by date. They have had their mitts all over it. ;-)

Look on the bright side…If the mortality rate is 3.7% then that leaves 96.3% who recover…:-D:-D:-D

My GP put everything into context for me after having a heart attack a while back. I was saying to her that I couldn’t understand why that had happened. I don’t drink, smoke, lead a riotous lifestyle, I have a good diet, don’t eat ā€˜junk food’, look after myself etc. She said ā€œyes, but you have overlooked one thing, you are a human being therefore fallibleā€.

Nothing more needed to be said.

yeah sorry! … wrong season…lol! I know what I mean,it will be lighter earlier!

No, she’s right, Backward on 5th April 2020

I have been vegetarian for a while trying to follow a strict anti inflammatory/anti cancer diet (as several family members have had it and no-one in our family has survived it) no alcohol, have never been a smoker anyway, no junk food (though I’d treated myself to an easter egg and a bottle of Baileys for Easter!)

Now after all that effort and getting myself from wheelchair-bound to semi mobile I could potentially be wiped out by a virus from the other side of the world!!!

I’m considering buying lamb and mint sauce (my fav sunday dinner that I’ve missed the most) and a large bottle of brandy if I’m not gonna make it to the end of this year!

Also noticed I’m feeling really paranoid, (though that could be the menopause!) not heard from my younger sibling since end of Feb and getting convinced they’ve got corona virus and no-one’s told me !

Now I’m confused  Isn’t it usually the end of March?

I think that one day we will become just another third-world country, going by the changes apparent in our society today.

Somehow, I can’t imagine that richer and more civilised countries (India?) will send us the level of hand-outs that we have sent to them over the past many decades.

I’m afraid you’re making the mistake of assuming that most people possess a modicum of common sense. In reality, the opposite appears to be the case!

You’re right. The Antipodes are completely backward!

Nothing wrong with being sensible about your diet, also nothing wrong with having the occasional treat, just don’t do that all the time.

Now after all that effort and getting myself from wheelchair-bound to semi mobile I could potentially be wiped out by a virus from the other side of the world!!!

Potentially that could be any of us. As OGF commented in his post, there is also a 96.3% chance you will not be!

Treat yourself anyway but moderation in all things is possibly a good thing to go by – don’t drink the whole bottle!

Contact your younger sibling, no news is good news and you would probably already have found out if it was bad news. The end of February was only 15 days’ ago anyway. No point in sitting there wondering and worrying when you may be able to find out and allay your fears.

No Susan…:069: It will be darker in the mornings but lighter for longer in the evenings…:101:

Hi

Not my experience over the years.

People do not self Police.

Only the nice responsible ones do and they are never a problem.

It is those who do not who cause the problems, and it does not take many of them to mess the system up.

This was quite evident in Tescos this morning in a normally gentile town like Shrewsbury.

There is absolutely no chance in the areas I used to work in.

The elderly and vulnerable are considered fair game there.

Dropping food supplies outside their doors will just mean they are nicked straight away.

I am fine, I worry about others less fortunate than myself.

I worked for many years as a NCB Warfare Officer, I can look after myself and have the knowledge and equipment to protect my family.

Other than Hospital Appointments and getting Prescriptions no need to go out for weeks.

I will still be going out to exercise, but in the early mornings when there is little if any contact with others.

My lodgers have strict hygiene protocols and any deviation from those and they will be out in a flash.

I am one of the fortunate ones, many are not.

Does that mean it will be darker later or lighter later?

I don’t believe the coronavirus is a definite death sentence, even for over seventies and people with all underlying medical issues, and because suffering from a virus takes weeks, or even months to recover from…I expect the survival and recovery rate to increase rapidly after a few more weeks…

I just wish they’d leave the bloody clocks alone.
One thing that I do agree with the EU about.
Twice a year, I’ve got to go around changing all but a couple of our timepieces to absolutely no advantage whatsoever.

ā€˜Daylight saving’ time! Nonsense!
Changing the clocks makes absolutely no difference to the length of daylight!

Bruce is in the southern hemisphere Susan.

when does it change in the UK?

29th of March

i think the same as you JBR.
