Coronavirus

An infection control expert was saying that in summer part of the reduced infection is also down to increased ventilation as any airborne virus likes to reproduce in enclosed spaces. With an open window the wind disperses the risk. Of course these days we have sophisticated air conditioning systems probably spreading the virus…

Hot countries in developed areas will have air conditioning installed. It’s possible that less developed parts of Africa and Asia will be in a better position because they don’t have such hospitable conditions to nurture the virus and they have the hot weather. Just my hunch. I’ll be interested to see what happens in reality.

Don’t worry the Government has got your back

…and your stats to verify this? or is it just wishful thinking?

Current statistics show that this virus is, at best, 10 times more lethal than the flu and probably far more lethal than that.

The true figure will not be available until it is over but in his opening remarks at the March 3 media briefing on Covid-19, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated:

“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died."

As a comparison the mortality rate for seasonal flu is 0.1%

Governments can not win on this issue. If their measures are successful and the pandemic is halted by drastic action this is exactly what people will say after those drastic actions work.

I don’t believe this heat killing it off business.
Surely, if it warmed up here with all the water in the ground, we’d get humid conditions which usually breeds disease.

I wonder if our lack of snow, frost and a cold winter is helping the virus to exist not the other way around.

My brother and family are now confined to their house in Italy after three cases have been confirmed in their village. :frowning:

There could be right Annie, as do you remember about air con harbouring Legionairres too?

Oh dear Mags, that’s another worry for you.
Hope it all turns out ok and your family stay well.

Because then the virus would have come by boat from belgium, netherlands, france, denmark etc.

70 mln inhabitants, 80% will get infected, kill percentage 2%. Simple mathematics…

This is quite a good map for checking the number of cases in your area.
It is updated daily.

How would you know? Were you in the room when Pres. Trump has been talking to the pandemic experts ? No, of course not. You are just taking a cheap shot at Pres. Trump.
Shame on you.

Interesting. Useful. Thanks.

That is very useful. Thanks for posting the link Mups.

Eeeeek just turned sky news on and its showing breaking news… 10 more deaths since yesterday!!

All in their 70’s and 80’s with underlying health conditions according to the woman presenter.

Wales has had another 22 cases but I must have missed where they said the new total number of newly diagnosed cases since yesterday.

Thanks Mups, keeping our fingers crossed.

Thanks for the map Maps, that’s useful.

She watches CNN

I’ve seen his interviews on TV and heard all about his Twitter posts and the kind of stuff he writes on there!

The man brings a whole new meaning to the word ‘dense’!

Brilliant Mups, thanks for that…:023:

Nobody in Doncaster…Yet!..:038::038::038:

We have 14 in Devon, but some school pupils went to Italy skiing during half term, so I guess it’s them & their families who have it. They did close the two schools & deep cleaned them. The schools are not in my immediate area though.
