I’m not sure if it has been mentioned (sorry but over a thousand posts is too much to read through) but one of the so called experts said that most people who get the virus wouldn’t even know they had it. Surely it would be better to get it in a mild form and become sort of immune.
That’s one expert I do not believe ! Unless you’re a carrier I think you might have mild symptoms but not totally without .
That five week notflu virus that was going about all over the country here starting in November was bad.
Another jump in the numbers…
confirmed cases from 209 to 273.

Very depressing
Take heart Meg … I’d noticed with the Chinese that during their worst period theirs increased by 50% a day… so tomorrow might well be up to 350 to 400 cases for the UK.
It’ll peak eventually, hold steady and start to slow down.
They reckon Easter will see it peaking …
From ‘NHS Patient Access’ in support of what I have said previously about the ineffectiveness of wearing face masks for personal protection:
"Myth: “Face masks protect you from the virus”
You might have noticed more people wearing medical face masks in the last few weeks whilst out and about. Don’t worry if you haven’t bought one. The masks are fairly ineffective for the average person.
"Only people caring for infected people and the infected people themselves needs to wear masks.
"Some of the surgical masks which the public are choosing to wear are actually made to protect others from the wearer, not the other way around. They likely won’t prevent droplets reaching your mouth and nose. Even the more heavy-duty respiratory masks which tend to be used in hospitals aren’t very effective for the average person. They need to be properly fitted to create a seal and then removed and disposed of correctly.
“In fact, you may even increase your risk of infection as it’s likely you’ll be touching your face more. And shortages of masks caused by panic-buying of masks put healthcare workers at risk if hospitals aren’t able to get hold of them.”
Nevertheless, you see people wearing them all over the place in the forlorn hope that they are protected from Coronavirus.
I somehow think it is a plot by the Chinese, as a friend said at a B"Day lunch I attended yesterday .
Sounds a bit far fetched I know but they can be crafty .
Nope it’s the Russians!
Not heard of any cases there!
First they interfere with our politics then they give us all a virus, easy to cause division and panic. They’ll be invading next. ;-)
Many a true word Tess . . . .
Remember Salisbury in 2018?
If so, it seems to have backfired on them!
Yes, I’d heard something like that.
And just half an hour ago - on bbc - there was a doc from cambridge uni suggesting isolation is not a good thing …
such conflicting advice. Some docs saying isolate others saying don’t, who do we believe.
Then that doctor was nuts. Make no mistake about it, it is absolutely the best way to avoid the virus.
Given that in China cases are going down it would appear that isolation works.
I don’t really care what the ‘experts’ say. As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to continue to behave in a sensible manner but, above all, keep away from crowds.
Fortunately, I don’t have any interest in going to nightclubs or football matches!
You say about football matches JBR, but I was surprised Crufts was allowed to go ahead this week.
22,000 dogs entered and 166,000 visitors, the highest number for 128 years apparently - all shut in an enclosed building together.
Many of the exhibitors and visitors come from abroad as well.
Think I’d have give it a miss meself.
But are the cases really going down? Very little information is coming out of China. Can we believe what they say?
Daughter & I wondered about that, but didn’t Crufts start before Coronavirus was an issue? Will Google that.
I did & found this…
https://www.crufts.org.uk/press-releases/the-kennel-club-statement-on-coronavirus/
I don’t have any interest in going to Crufts either!
Seriously, though, you’re right. I don’t know how many people are in a typical audience at Crufts. Perhaps it’s relatively small and, of course, dogs don’t carry Coronavirus… apparently!
It started on Thursday Tiff, and ended at 9 pm tonight.
I edited my post, Mups.
