Coronavirus

Seems to me the rest of the world are rightly concerned, I expect Boris is leaving it to his Health minister to deal with .
Coronavirus: How close are we to a global pandemic? | World News | Sky News

“PAGE NOT FOUND”…overload!!

Link works for me too…

Nice link thank you

4 deaths so far in Italy.

5 villages so far blocked.

Austria speaking of closing the border.

Off to buy a face mask to morrow.

Just seen the link on Sky…

It will be interesting to trace back the Italian cases…and find the connection.

Apparently, the novel coronavirus COVID-19 is now affecting 37 countries and territories around the world.

The World Health Organization has said the world should do more to prepare for a possible coronavirus pandemic.

A pandemic is when an infectious disease spreads easily from person to person in many parts of the world.

However, most infections are in China, the original source of the virus, where 77,000 people have the disease and nearly 2,600 have died. The number of new cases there is now falling.

More than 1,200 cases have been confirmed in about 30 other countries and there have been more than 20 deaths.

Italy reported 3 more deaths on Monday, raising the total there to 6.

:frowning:

It is getting difficult to trace cases now , only a few weeks till the Easter holiday with lots of travel :-(.

I am worried about my 5 grandchildren being taken to Disney Florida at the end of March .

Latest:

First 2 cases in Oman: two woman who had visited Iran.

18 new cases in the United States from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

4 new deaths and 18 new cases (3 retracted) in Iran.

This is the most scare mongering thread l have ever read. I will not return to this site until it’s locked or disappears.

I very much agree with you. It’s more Pandemonium than Pandemic!! A great example of how to make people panic…and could be used for all the wrong reasons.

Art , for people who are interested it’s not scaremongering fhs .
Do you apply the same critiscm to Sky News who also give out updates on the current situation and stats ?

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

508 new cases (499 in Hubei) and 71 new deaths (68 in Hubei) occurred in China on Feb. 24

If these numbers remain unchanged then they represent a significant allied decline in numbers for the specified categories in China.

S. Korea has another 60 new cases bringing total cases to 893.

It is gratifying to know that my posts are read with such care and attention. Thank you.

Another 24 hours and all is fairly quiet on the Western Front (well, the English speaking part anyway) though the USA has had a bump in numbers with cases from the Diamond Princess.

Diamond Princess
Cases 691
Recovered 27
Deaths 4
Critical 35

Australia
Cases 22
Recovered 11

U.K.
Cases 13
Recovered 8

USA
Cases 53
Recovered 6

Global active cases continue to decline:

Looks like a shift downwards, so if present policies are continued
then no reason the epidemic should’nt decline further?
Donkeyman!

I don’t think it is, it’s real, it’s happening and we need to be kept informed. I’m grateful that Bruce and Omah are keeping us updated with the stats.

We all have a choice of what thread we read to be fair Arty.

Not good news , Tenerife hotel locked down https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-51627597

[Coronavirus warning: Travellers from lockdown zones in Italy must self-isolate http://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-warning-travelers-from-northern-italy-must-self-isolate-11942709](Coronavirus warning: Travellers from lockdown zones in Italy must self-isolate http://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-warning-travelers-from-northern-italy-must-self-isolate-11942709)

But only one confirmed so far Zuleika?
The main problem seems to be air travel right now?
China seems to be under control!
Donkeyman!

Apparently:

A hotel in Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands has been locked down after a visiting Italian doctor tested positive for coronavirus.

Hundreds of guests at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace Hotel were initially told to stay in their rooms as medical tests were carried out, Spanish media report.

The doctor is reportedly from the Lombardy region, where Italian authorities are battling an outbreak.

Security forces are reportedly preventing people from leaving the hotel.

More cases are surely to be expected … :frowning:
