Coronavirus

Hi

Irrational fear.

Common or Garden Flu kills vastly more people here in the UK every year.

People are not having Chinese Takeaways as a form of self defence, but still do not have their flu jabs.

It is a complete nonsense, fuelled by Facebook and the stupidity of people who think Flu Jabs and others are dangerous.

Authorities have confirmed four people evacuated to Darwin from the Diamond Princess cruise ship have tested positive for coronavirus.

On Friday night, two Queensland women aged 54 and 55 tested positive for the infection and will be flown to a Brisbane hospital for further treatment.

Earlier on Friday, a 24-year-old South Australian woman who tested positive for the virus was being flown from Darwin to Royal Adelaide Hospital to be held in isolation, health authorities said.

The woman tested negative for the virus in Yokohama before flying to Australia, but alerted health authorities of flu-like symptoms on her arrival in Darwin.

These people will be flown to their home state for treatment.

There’s still some delay with the plane due to fetch Britons back still on the ground .

Senior high school students from China will be allowed to travel to Australia under a strict exemption announced by the Federal Government.

Health Minister Greg Hunt has today revealed Year 11 and 12 students from mainland China, excluding from Hubei, will be considered on a special case-by-case basis.

If the states and territories agree, students will be tested for the coronavirus before leaving China and on arrival in Australia, and will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

Mr Hunt said medical authorities believed the virus was contained in Australia and slowing globally.

World Health Organization is close to classifying Ovid-19 as a global pandemic. the virus is now loose across the world and there is no way to stop it from spreading. people who have never been near China are now testing positive.

It was reported today that the incubation period for Covid19 might be 27 days rather than the 14 days previously thought. That will make a difference!

Another person evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship to Australia has tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number of confirmed cases to seven.

The person from Queensland will remain in isolation overnight, before being repatriated home by Queensland health on Sunday.

Health authorities confirmed two Victorians tested positive for COVID-19 last night after four people were diagnosed with the virus on Friday — a woman from SA, a man from WA and two people from Queensland .

Northern Territory chief medical officer Dianne Stephens said the two Victorians and two Queenslanders would be repatriated to their home states today.

Researchers at the University of Queensland (UQ) have said they are just days away from testing a new vaccine for coronavirus, or COVID-19, on animals.
Paul Young, head of the university’s School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, said a team of 20 UQ scientists had been working around the clock to speed up the vaccine building process since the outbreak of the virus.

Researchers from UQ were funded by an international organisation called the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI) to use new rapid medical development technology to help create a vaccine for the new virus strain.

Evacuation flight for Britons on Diamond Princess lands in UK

The Foreign Office said 32 British and European passengers - who have been quarantined on the liner for 16 days - were on board.

The flight landed at Boscombe Down, an airbase in Wiltshire, after leaving Tokyo late on Friday night.

The group will travel on coaches to Arrowe Park hospital in Wirral, where they will spend 14 days in quarantine.

The passengers have so far tested negative for Covid-19, the illness brought on by coronavirus.

The flight took off from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport late on Friday evening (GMT) and landed at Boscombe Down, a Ministry of Defence base in Wiltshire, about 11:30 GMT on Saturday.

Sadly:

David and Sally Abel, a couple from Northamptonshire who were diagnosed with coronavirus on the cruise ship and who are being treated for the virus in health facilities in Japan, have since been told they have pneumonia, their son said.

Appearing alongside wife Roberta, Steve Abel said in a YouTube video late on Friday evening that his father’s condition was “very serious”, while his mother has a more mild form of pneumonia.

He also said his “really distressed” parents - who had been on the cruise for their 50th wedding anniversary - called him to say they were being moved to a different hospital.

Mr Abel said: “They’ve gone from being told that they’re going to have all these wonderful treatments, and ‘we’re going to wait over the next two or three days just to see how they respond to the treatments’, and now all of a sudden they’re being told ‘we have to move you to a different hospital’.”

He said his father is so “weak” he has been using a wheelchair, and has been told he could be put on a ventilator.

The Foreign Office said the welfare of all British nationals is of the highest priority to the UK government.

They added they are working with the Japanese authorities to ensure those British nationals who are remaining in Japan for health reasons get the best possible care.
