Coronavirus

Omah  I am not talking about the evacuees, at lunch time on the radio it said people were being allowed to leave the ship and to get onto public transport .

Passengers leaving the ship after quarantine was scheduled but, like you, I’m not sure public transport is the best means for them to find their way home.

Will they then be able to move freely and without hindrance or be subject to recall and review … :confused2:

2 new deaths in Iran only hours after announcing the first two cases in the country.

Not good … :009:

Public transport was taxi ?

The Guardian reports today " Japanese authorities said those who had tested negative for the virus were allowed to leave on Wednesday, but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warned that passengers who disembark may not be allowed to board a British evacuation flight scheduled for later this week".

The Holiday Inn Heathrow has been block booked by The Dept Of Health .
Will any testing positive when they eventually land and go through testing yet again be put in there?

A new case in Japan today, 19/2, is a taxi driver who had contacts with people from the Diamond Princess cruise ship last week. He is currently being treated in an intensive care unit.

So who were these …who used his taxi ?

I have no idea but I imagine that the Japanese authorities do …

Arrived in The Midlands ? Or maybe not ?

About 180 Australians have landed in Darwin for a second 14-day quarantine period after being evacuated from the coronavirus-stricken Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The plane landed just hours before Japanese public broadcaster NHK announced two passengers who had been aboard the cruise ship had died.

The passengers, who were confined to the ship to contain a coronavirus outbreak which infected at least 612 people, left Japan in the early hours of Thursday morning on an Australian Government-chartered evacuation flight.

They will be housed at the Howard Springs quarantine facility, which is currently home to 266 evacuees who were evacuated from Wuhan in China just over a week ago.

Health officials say the new group, which includes a considerable number of elderly people, will be separated from the Wuhan evacuees and undergo daily health checks.

Ludicrous controls on that ship…it is like one giant Petri dish. Scary stats

The Australian Federal Government has extended its coronavirus travel ban for another week until Saturday February 29.

The Government first implemented strict new border-control measures in an effort to halt what it dubbed an “escalating threat” of the coronavirus.

The ban means foreign nationals who have been in mainland China are not allowed into Australia for 14 days from the time they left China.

Australian citizens and permanent residents are able to enter Australia but need to isolate themselves for a fortnight.

The Government first introduced a 14-day travel ban for travellers from mainland China at the start of the month.

This is now the second time the ban has been extended for another week

I would have expected a much better response from the Japanese. Seriously ! They are, after all, a 1st world nation.

On the subject of the Diamond Princess, how in the world do they ever hope to decontaminate an entire ship ?

Only slight changes?

Chinese health officials expressed new optimism on Thursday over a deadly virus outbreak while authorities in South Korea’s fourth-largest city urged residents to hunker down as fears nagged communities far from the illness’ epicentre.

The confidence voiced by China’s government came as it reported a reduced number of new infections. But doubts remained about the true trajectory of the epidemic as China again changed its method of counting and new threats emerged outside the country.

“The downward trend will not be reversed,” insisted Ding Xiangyang, deputy chief secretary of the State Council and a member of the central government’s supervision group.

Whatever promises were aired where the illness poses its biggest threat, countries around the world continued to grapple with the rippling effects. The latest front in the widening global fight against COVID-19 emerged in Daegu, South Korea, where the city’s 2.5 million residents were urged to stay inside, wearing masks even indoors to stem further infection.

1 new case in the United States (Humboldt County, in Northern California)

Additionally:

1 new case in Canada (British Columbia): a woman in her 30s recently returned from travel to Iran.

The trajectory of the outbreak remained clouded by China’s zigzagging daily reports of new cases and shifting ways of tallying them.

So, the true figures are … :?:

The Chinese communist gov’t does not care a hoot about it’s people. They are concerned only with the economic impact. This Covid-19 is having a huge economic impact in China. I wouldn’t believe a word they say.

No change on the Diamond Princess

Authorities have confirmed two people evacuated to Darwin from the Diamond Princess cruise ship yesterday have tested positive for coronavirus.

A 24-year-old South Australian woman who tested positive for the virus is being flown from Darwin to Royal Adelaide Hospital to be held in isolation, health authorities said.

The woman tested negative for the virus in Yokohama before flying to Australia, but alerted health authorities of flu-like symptoms on her arrival in Darwin.

South Australia’s chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier described the woman’s “mild symptoms” as including a sore throat and runny nose.

The confirmed cases come after six people were isolated after presenting minor symptoms on arrival at Darwin airport on Thursday morning.

The 164 people evacuated from the cruise ship will spend two weeks at a quarantine facility at Howard Springs, 30 kilometres south-east of Darwin’s CBD.
