Why do the US citizens have different treatment?
The first Australian evacuees in the detention centre on Christmas Island have completed their 14 days quarantine and will be flown home. No cases were reported. Planes are being organised to travel to all Australian mainland capitals.
The government is also considering evacuating Australian citizens from the Diamond Princess in Japan.
Because they’re a separate country to the UK ?
Apparently according to Sky News I’ve just watched on tv each country has to apply to the Japanese authorities for permission.
The male part of a UK couple has just said he thinks they’ve been forgotten or worse the UK doesn’t want them back .
This has been denied of course
So basically we care less about our poor trapped citizens than the US because the process must be identical?
No , and they’re not trapped are they ,they’ve had everything provided and been treated well ?
Why try to make out the UK don’t care simply because we happen to be lagging behind ?

Yes if people are our citizens we should not leave them on a ship on the other side of the world. If the US can do it so should we. We already have cases here and facilities where they can be quarantined. Why leave them stuck on a ship where they could get infected if they are currently clear? Best to bring them home and look after our citizens. It’s like we do not care enough to treat this as a priority.
Sorry Annie you’re sounding just like the man on tv . We simply don’t know enough about the situation with the Japanese ?
People have to be transported from the ship to the airport?
Maybe if those on board emailed their MP ,or even you could find out more maybe by messaging yours ?

It was just announced that Australian citizens will be evacuated from the cruise ship in Japan. Kiwis on board will be offered seats on the chartered Qantas flight.
The Australian government will launch an evacuation of more than 200 Australians trapped on the Diamond Princess cruise ship and quarantine them in a Darwin mining camp for another two weeks.
Qantas will fly to Japan on Wednesday to pick up the passengers from Yokohama, where they have spent the past two weeks as more than 200 of their fellow travellers have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Sky News is given to understand the British Embassy in Tokyo has emailed British passengers on board the ship asking them if they would be interested in a flight home . Nothing definite is planned .
Evacuated Americans Carried Virus From Cruise Ship to Airplane
Fourteen passengers, who were believed to be well before they were evacuated from a cruise ship in Japan on Monday, were found to be infected before boarding a charter plane to the United States.
The 14 infected passengers were moved into a specialized containment area on the evacuation aircraft, where they were to be isolated and monitored. They had been found to be asymptomatic and “fit to fly” before the evacuation, according to the statement.
The United States has 15 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. That number will nearly double when the 14 infected passengers arrive.
That’s bad news …

Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan confirms 99 new coronavirus cases
12% of passengers and crew (1 out of 8) have so far tested positive to the virus (454 cases out of 3,711).
Hundreds of American passengers from the Diamond Princess have been flown back to the US - fourteen passengers tested positive during the evacuation.
Australia said it would follow suit on Wednesday. Both countries have said citizens will face a further two weeks of quarantine after arriving home.
Keeping potentially infected people close together is obviously not a good idea - one passenger on the ship reported that passengers leaned around balcony partitions to talk to their neighbours … 
Must be awful to be flown for hours in what looks like a cargo crate. Poor people. I understand why it is necessary but do feel for them.
