I join a cruise ship shortly…wish we hadn’t booked it now…latest advice if you take essential medication take an extra 2 weeks supply to cover the unlikely possibility of an outbreak and the need to be quarantined
In England, the total number of influenza confirmed admissions to ICU/HDUwas 2,924 from 140 NHS acute trusts (mean weekly incidence of 0.21 per 100,000 trust population) with 273 influenza deaths in ICU during the same period
You are far more likely to die from common Flu than you are from Coronovirus, yet we do not panic every winter.
That’s very true Swims.
Mind you if you want to catch something a huge cruise ship crammed with people is the way to do it.
Cruise ships also lose passengers all the time .
They die fall overboard or simply disappear.
They often get mugged at their ports of call
I have never been on a cruise .
Seen loads of cruise ships though disgorging passengers all over the Caribbean .

We do tend to panic about flu because there is a big vaccination awareness campaign every year and the number of deaths are despite this and despite telling people to catch it and kill it.
The trouble with coronavirus is that it’s come at the same time as may are at risk from flu so it’s a double whammy and being taken very seriously as a result. They will board two Boeing 747s chartered from Kalitta Air, and will soon depart for Travis Air Force Base in California. The passengers will have to undergo another quarantine, lasting 14 days, upon arrival in the US.
A US passenger on the liner has tested positive so will have to say behind .
How depressing for him but good that he hadn’t boarded the plane that landed in Tokyo this morning to take passegers back?
