No link … :?:

That’s very true.

On the news tonight.
U.S. to take the U.S. citizens off that cruise ship stranded in Yokahoma harbor.

Hi

There needs to be a sense of reality.

Last Winters figures.

In England, the total number of influenza confirmed admissions to ICU/HDUwas 2,924 from 140 NHS acute trusts (mean weekly incidence of 0.21 per 100,000 trust population) with 273 influenza deaths in ICU during the same period

You are far more likely to die from common Flu than you are from Coronovirus, yet we do not panic every winter.

That’s very true Swims.
Mind you if you want to catch something a huge cruise ship crammed with people is the way to do it.
Cruise ships also lose passengers all the time .
They die fall overboard or simply disappear.
They often get mugged at their ports of call
I have never been on a cruise .
Seen loads of cruise ships though disgorging passengers all over the Caribbean .
People lie in wait to try and flog them stuff .
Still there you are .

Mobile chicken batteries Muddy imo??
Donkeyman!

The reality is precisely as the head of WHO keeps on telling us if you listen to him carefully and envisage the possible big picture .

We do tend to panic about flu because there is a big vaccination awareness campaign every year and the number of deaths are despite this and despite telling people to catch it and kill it.

The trouble with coronavirus is that it’s come at the same time as may are at risk from flu so it’s a double whammy and being taken very seriously as a result. It appears to be more infectious than flu and some young and healthy people have died which is unusual in flu cases. So in part the panic is that it’s the unknown and that people appear to catch it despite precautions. The chap handing out leaflets on the cruise ship was in gloves and mask.

The cruise ship industry seems to have gone haywire with these giant hotels on water. I do know people who love cruising but it does seem a big risk if you get ill and are trapped in this way.

I feel so sorry for the people on this ship. I hope they are able to get their regular medication as many must be elderly and reliant on a supply. It’s unbelievable that Brits haven’t been evacuated. I hope there is some good news on that score soon.

Have there been deaths on board Annie?
If so, would the bodies be allowed to be removed?

Mups I think those taken ill have been removed to a hospital and I thought the chap who handed out leaflets died later.

Americans from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan who chose to take part in the US government’s voluntary evacuation have arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Led by a police convoy, they arrived in 10 buses.

They will board two Boeing 747s chartered from Kalitta Air, and will soon depart for Travis Air Force Base in California. The passengers will have to undergo another quarantine, lasting 14 days, upon arrival in the US.

A US passenger on the liner has tested positive so will have to say behind .
How depressing for him but good that he hadn’t boarded the plane that landed in Tokyo this morning to take passegers back?
