Those damn Yanks (not really) the new NSW case came from foreigners and is not a community infection.
The nearest I have personally come to “knowing” someone who has caught Covid.
I follow a few people who live on narrowboats in the UK, these are a couple I watch intermittently but they both caught covid and one had to go to intensive care. I am not sure if this will work but the relevant bit starts at about 22 minutes in if it doesn’t.
I understand he did recover but it was an emotional explanation

The figures for UK infections still seem to be hovering around the 15,000 mark each day, despite lockdown and the tier system, and the severe restrictions have been in operation for quite some time now…
It takes a couple of weeks a least for a downward trend to appear if Victoria is anything to go by.

I was told a sad tale this morning.
A neighbour near me, who lived on her own, aged 90, had a fall a little while back, and broke her hip. She was still an adult independent lady and cooked and looked after herself.
She was admitted to hospital, operated on and was recovering well.
Then she was sent to a respite home until she was strong enough to return home.
She was doing well, until a carer came to work and gave the old lady Covid.
Sadly, she died. After all she’d been through. Poor woman.
That is so sad Mups, poor lady, she was so vulnerable.
That’s very sad Mups, and she is not the only one.
I heard just the other day that a friend of a friend had a fall too and was admitted to hospital and seemed to be recovering but died a week later after testing positive for Covid.
The neighbour who lived across the road (he was a very fit 88 year old) slipped in his back garden and was taken to hospital. He died of Pneumonia some days later. It was last year though before Covid.
It seems that having a fall late in life is the beginning of the end…That, or the visit to the hospital…
Yes Mags, especially as she was recovering until Covid got her.
Yes, unfortunately I think that is often the way, Foxy.
Having a fall fracture after 80 is often a life changing injury. It’s extremely serious and rarely heals completely. My friend’s great aunt had one aged 96. She lived another three years because she had excellent care but she never returned to independent living and it was ultimately the cause of her death. Prior to this she was still driving and not even registered with a GP!
