Oh no, here we go again. Does anyone happen to recall the title of this thread ? Or is it a dumping ground for people to vent on any subject ?
Reading all these posts takes me back to wartime Britain. Millions of tons of imported food was being sent to the bottom of the Atlantic by U boats. What did we do? We grew our own, Parks, lawns, sports fields were ploughed and planted with food crops.
There were shortages but no-one starved to death.

We are talking about the effects of Covid on the economy. It’s not off topic as this is directly related to decisions made regarding the scientific evidence.
I just read an article written by an epidemic specialist who said that he expects that 70% of Americans would eventually become infected before this virus runs its course.
Good heavens. That means that 252 million Americans will become infected and of that number 7,560,000 will die.
I don’t know what to say or think about such catastrophic numbers. One thing is certain, however. I don’t want to die after spending days gasping for breath. Too depressing to cope with.
Fortunately, there are vastly differing levels of infection.
Many, in fact the majority, are said to hardly notice it and it is believed that they feel little or no symptoms.
The problem is that, on that basis, we may not know that we are infected!
They have said that there is more than one strain. One milder than the other. This could explain reinfection reports.
The Imperial report predicted 40m deaths worldwide if nothing was done to contain infection. But there is hope that the virus will lose it’s strength over time.
Hi
Simple fact of life.
Some countries have suffered worse than others.
The UK has suffered more than most.
The question has to be asked.
Why?
Simple.
Delayed and insufficiently stringent rules. In addition, inadequate provisions put in place and many continue to ignore the rules.
That sounds a lot to me BM,? I suggest you check over what
period of time the 252Million will be infected and also what the
normal level of deaths applies in the USA each year?
Leaving out gunshot wounds of course!!!
Donkeyman!!

Certainly questions have to be asked about the effectiveness of the NHS for whatever reason, the Covid19 mortality rate in the UK seems appalling.
Zero deaths. It’s an achievement amid the coronavirus pandemic that governments from the United States to Italy can only dream of.
While cases of COVID-19 shoot up in wealthy Singapore and the disease continues on a worrying trend elsewhere in South-East Asia, Vietnam is an unlikely outlier.
It has a land border spanning more than 1,400 kilometres with China, where the novel coronavirus originated, a population of more than 90 million, and a GDP per capita 22 times less than Australia’s.
Nevertheless, Vietnam’s lack of coronavirus deaths remains the envy of the world.
As of Monday, authorities reported a further eight recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of people cured in Vietnam to 249. That’s of a total of just 288 confirmed cases.
Vietnam is an authoritarian, one-party state which is notoriously secretive about sharing information.
But most experts believe Vietnamese authorities are being honest about coronavirus statistics.
Don,t forget. North Korea tell us they have no cases at all.
If the experts think Vietnam is being honest what do they think of N Korea,s claim.
What is the connection between Vietnam and North Korea?
Dodgy statistics…
Similar governments Brucy!!
Donkeyman!
It is quite obvious that none of you have been to Vietnam nor know anything about the country or the Vietnamese if you think that there is any similarity between them and North Korea.
