I had an appointment at 11.50 this morning at the GP. Due to the present circumstances, I tried to telephone the practice all morning to check whether I should attend, bearing in mind it was a non-urgent routine blood test.
As is always the case with this practice, which is excellent in all other respects, I heard only an engaged tone or, on occasion, the phone rang without response for about five minutes. I came to the conclusion that the phones were not being answered, so gave up!
Despite that, I attended for my blood test and was very impressed by how the practice had organised itself to ensure safety for both staff and patients.
At the door was a sign instructing us to push a button, along with a hand-wash dispenser. There was one chap before me, actually, and I stood well back waiting for him to finish (he was collecting something). The receptionist came to the door and first asked me whether I had any of the symptoms of coronavirus (though she didn’t specify what those were!). I assured her I had not, and was admitted to the waiting room which was completely empty.
She then logged me in, though there is a self-service screen for that purpose - saved me touching it! The nurse then came out, wearing a paper face mask (for some reason!), asked me to come into her office and took the required sample from my arm.
She informed me that the follow-up review might be conducted over the telephone and that the sister involved would let me know whether or not to come in to the practice next week.
I must congratulate the practice for taking these very sensible precautions. I felt safe and at no risk in attending today, though to be honest I was a little concerned before I got there that I might be faced with a waiting room heaving with people!
If only everyone could behave and organise themselves in such a sensible way.
Just cleaned my jewellery, amazing how dirty it can get, especially watch strap. Used a jewellery cleaner. Always remove rings with gemstones when cleaning, cooking or gardening.
This article prompted me, to give them the beauty treatment.

The Secretary of State was asked by an MP if the government should be taking more serious measures to get the messages across to the public as they’re not working.

I don’t think ‘Extinction Rebellion’ are the heros you think they are Muddy…They are the footsoldiers of something far more financed and organised than you can possibly imagine.
They are all coordinated and can arrive at any location at a moments notice. These are not harmless university students looking to save the planet, they have a much bigger agenda. Or at least the ones who control them have…

I agree. Unlike mindless kids, they are organised and work as one to disrupt and destroy. They do this because, quite simply, our authorities allow them to continue to do it.
I have no idea who their real leaders are, or what their ideals or politics are, but as they are responsible for the damage caused by this so-called Extinction Rebellion organisation, they are the ones who should receive the severest punishment.
That is the most effective way to control them.
