Adelaide (SA) is locking down from 6pm tonight.

The first regional centre in NSW is now in lockdown. Orange and two neighbouring LGAs were locked down after a worker tested positive at a Nestles processing plant.

14 million Australians are now in lockdown - that is over half of the population.

According to modelling Sydney could be locked down until early September

What’s happened to Sweden? No new cases or deaths in the last three days…:102:

Perhaps they just don’t publish their data on a daily basis. They have nearly a 1000 cases today but overall they are doing pretty well.

I was surprised because I thought they just let the virus rip with no precautions taken but 1million cases with only 14000 deaths is very good compared to the rest of Europe. They must have a very good health service (and no Boris perhaps?). Their vaccination regime is ramping up exponentially too

The NSW outbreak shows no sign of being under control with 124 cases today. About 100 people are in hospital, I think 14 are on ventilators. This delta strain seems to be affecting young people more than the original strain because half those in hospital are under 50.

On the bright side(?) no-one in hospital has had two doses of the vaccine.

Thank you Scotty for running the slowest vaccine roll out in the OECD. You useless pr**k

Just watching the 11am Premier’s news conference.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the situation in NSW, particularly in the south-west and western suburbs, was now regarded as a “national emergency” and called on the federal government to refocus the national vaccination strategy.

The NSW government is also expanding its ban on people leaving local government areas for work to Cumberland and Blacktown.

Previously, it had applied to people in Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown and Liverpool.

NSW has recorded 136 new COVID-19 cases and another death linked to the growing outbreak.

Two more deaths reported today in NSW. One was a lady in her 70s but the second was a lady in her 30s with no co-morbities.

Neither was vaccinated (Thank you Scotty) but the second death is more worrying to authorities because it shows this Delta variant affects younger people more seriously than the original strain.

Over 40 people are currently in hospital - only one had received any vaccine and then only one dose

Further to the above:

NSW Health’s Jeremy McAnulty said a teenager was one of 43 people currently in intensive care in NSW.

He said of 43 people in intensive care, one was a teenager, seven were in their 20s, three were in their 30s, 14 were in their 50s, 12 were in their 60s and six were in their 70s.

With previous outbreaks there were no young people in intensive care the nature of the disease has changed with this Delta variant. Previously it was rare for teenagers and school children to be affected, this is no longer the case.

Three years before and for what. What did they know and kept quiet about.

Hi

These exercises happen all the time.

Ministers do like to publicose them if they do not go well.

The fact that they hadn’t actually learned anything? And they probably thought, ack it’ll never happen here…we are Great Britain after all

Don’t worry it is not just you, apparently we had a similar pandemic exercise in 2008ish (that is from memory) where everything went well and it was said this should happen every 5 years. Never happened again until the real thing.

Edit : I thought I had better check the year and I was actually spot on.
