Coronation Street

Thank God for Youtube Foxy, forget Corry, I’m sick to the back teeth of “Celebrity” quiz shows.

Aw Spitty, now you’ve opened a right can of worms…
I like ‘The Chase’ and ‘Pointless’ and can even put up with that annoying Alexander Armstrong but whenever I see ‘Celebrity’ in front of the programme I find something else to watch.
I reckon that ordinary members of the public are issued with rules before they appear on a quiz show…Where to stand, when to speak, and when not to speak etc and the show goes like clockwork, they answer the questions or pass and provide the odd bit of banter when asked…But the celebritees are well up their own arses, al vying for their thirty minutes of fame.
They dance around at the podiums reflecting on their past careers and butting in when the quizmaster is trying to keep order. And they’ve taken ‘virtue signalling’ to a new level with their obscure charities and false empathy…Just shut up and answer the bloody questions!

Foxy, you know I’m a pragmatist, and I see it as this, the essence of the TV quiz show is, to make a member of joe public a bit of cash by virtue of a bit of knowledge, but there is the jeopardy of leaving with nowt.
This celebrity malarkey flies in the face of this concept and essentially increases the cost of production by way of fees and expenses, so, if the TV companies are feeling benevolent, give the quiz show back to the general public and donate to charity the potential cash that would have been paid to the celebs, win win, we get proper entertainment back, and the charities don’t lose out, simples.

All the celebs can go back to what they do best and make films and appearances in Midsomer Murders or some other crap TV drama…

What with the footie and celebrity quiz shows, I’ve had to watch ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ and some bloke on about skin…Mind you, there was a good programme on at 7:30pm about battles while I was drying the pots which took me nicely to 8:00pm and Cora…
God knows what I will find to pacify me tonight…
Have you noticed that all the jobs people do on quiz shows now are bean counters, students, either at or work for the universities, retired nurses, teachers, or police officers…
Back in those days you mention, they were plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, painters, mechanics, engineers…Proper jobs.

OGF, you have hit the nail on the head with how celebs behave on shows like Pointless, or The Weakest Link. I too have noticed how they overreact to something, bend over in faux surprise/shock, twirl about, arms waving, and just generally embarrass themselves.
