But why only two in particular?
Every actor delivers their lines as directed. Some are spot on but others - well that just grate on my nerves.
Dev & Steve come to mind here…
The brilliant actors who played the beloved characters Stan and Hilda Ogden would no doubt have a good chuckle about
this.
In some ways I feel a little sorry for today’s young people.
They are so easily offended by things which we older people just found humorous without any intent of being ‘racist’ or otherwise offensive, it has to be said.
It makes you wonder just how soft and easily upset they must be. Clearly, we were (and still are) rather more resilient.
I sometimes wonder how they’d cope with some of the more demanding situations that we used to face without a second thought!
Being constantly on the look out for something to moan about not good for their mental state, permanent saddoes in
a bubble world.
I just feel sad that Tommy Orpington won’t be playing for Weatherfield any more…
And what about Tyrone? A one man population explosion… Three kids and all to different mothers…
Fizz’s daughter is not Tyrone’s. Her birth father was that mad teacher John something or other.
Oh yes, of course she was Percy, sorry…
He’s still got one in the oven though…:surprised:
I think Adam should tell Sarah (the vindictive little shit) to ‘Do One’ after she didn’t believe him. Surely, being married is about trust, and she preferred to believe some little hussey from Adam’s past than the person she supposedly loves and wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
Hell! if Mrs Fox believed half the things that people said about me we would have been divorced years ago…
Liked this character as Emily Bishop’s eco-warrior nephew.
I watched Corrie for years, then went off it a couple of years ago because it got so far fetched and stupid. I am back watching it again and had to google who Ken’s old raven haired flame is. Martha Fraser - then I was surprised to see it is actress Stephanie Beecham.
Fab that Ken is STILL chasing the women.
And great that Tracey is still a scheming little minx.
I do think they should not have started that “racist” storyline involving Max. It is just not what I expect of Corrie. It used to have great believable storylines and strong characters. So many now seem dodgy and devious and I don’t think most small communities have that many villains.
I have never forgotten the episode when “Martha Fraser” told Ken she was about to set off to travel on her canal boat from Weatherfield (Manchester) to go to London because she had to be there in 4 days time.
It made us laugh to hear her saying it would take 4 days to do a journey that would probably take at least 2 weeks, maybe more, if travelling by canal boat - especially if she was doing all the locks on her own!
When “Martha” returned recently, that scene was the first thing I thought of
I do like Stephanie Beecham, though - she played an excellent part in Tenko.
I think the racist storyline with Max is very believable and very “current” - Corrie has always tackled difficult social issues and it’s good that they do.
As a former foster parent, I’ve seen how easily kids who feel they don’t “fit in” can get groomed into dodgy gangs and illegal activities in this way.
Missed a few episodes so can somebody please tell me what’s going on with Summer?
The other night I saw Billy and her talking and it seems she had a termination. Tonight she has the people round who are expecting to adopt her baby and she is making out she is still pregnant.
What’s going on?
Summer decided to have a termination and told her Guardian, Billy, that is what she was going to do.
When she went for her appointment to have the termination, she changed her mind and didn’t take the tablets which would have started the termination process.
Instead, she agreed to “sell” her baby to a childless couple who are desperate for a baby (I’m not sure how she met that couple - I missed the earlier episodes where they first came into the mix)
Summer didn’t tell Billy that she had changed her mind (he had already told her the couple who offered to adopt her baby were acting illegally by offering her money, so she thought that Billy would tell the police if he knew what she was planning to do)
She decided to “sell” her baby to that couple to raise money so her boyfriend (and the baby’s father) could pay to get his own alcoholic father into a private rehab clinic.
The couple have given her an upfront payment and promised to make further maintenance payments.
Sadly, the Alcoholic Father has come out of Rehab and gone back on the booze, so the money was wasted -
Now, Summer has just had a miscarriage - but she has not told the couple who are “buying” her baby yet. They have just paid her another instalment of money and she and her boyfriend plan to spend it on getting his Dad back into the Rehab Clinic.
Billy has no idea that Summer did not have the termination and has no idea of any of the rest of it.
It’s a very complicated situation - the different strands are all scenarios some folk may go through - but when you put them altogether in one situation, it seems a bit far-fetched!
@Boot …it did just now when I read your synopsis. Very entertainingly written I might add.
Cor, I haven’t watched it for years. I remember Billy though.
Thanks so much Boot, very well explained and it must have taken you ages. Thanks again.
To be honest, I wish I had read Boot’s excellent appraisal instead of wasting a couple of hours, plus mind numbing adverts, watching such a complex web of lies and deceit…
Add to this the conniving antics of Steven (will he ever get banged to rights for murdering Leo?) The dubious money laundering antics of Nick at the Bistro, borrowing money off Harvey the jailbird. Plus, the mischievous adventures of satan’s daughter (Hope) with a stepdad who couldn’t find his ass with both hands in a darkened room (Tyrone) and his long suffering missus, Fizz…Shouldn’t she be leaving to do pantomime now?
And lets not forget Sean…He does for gays what Henry the eighth did for women’s rights…
Coronation Street meets Holby City…
So we’ve got Roy suffering from chest pain and shortage of breath…
We have got Paul with just two years to live…
Then there is Carla, with Mental issues, but really having been spiked by Stephen.
Tim, who has been diagnosed with heart trouble and unable to ‘Get it up!’
And Ryan, who had half his face burned off with Acid.
Ryan should grow a pair and stop feeling sorry for himself.
Adultery…
Sarah is having it off with Damon?
Fay is getting familiar with Jackson, who is the father to their daughter…
Beth is canoodling with Marco…Although Hope has put a stop to that with her candid photo of them kissing so Kirk has done one…Has Hope been taking lessons from Max?
And lets not start on Stephen…
Bring back Crossroads.
You have to feel a bit sorry for Tim’s Mum really believing Stephen is going to marry her.
Remember when Stephen put a body in the car top box and threw it into a pond? It was floating when he left it and nobody on the street ever mentioned it again. It was daft too because he was telling them all it contained sewing machines! they use industrial machines int’factory and you couldn’t even lift one of those let alone fit it in a top box.
