Inspired by coming across Softly Softly:Task Force on you tube
This one.
Very, Very clever and quite moving at times.
Bring back memories of the early seventies for us oldies to wallow in
Morse.PD James,The Chinese Detective,Lovejoy,Cracker,Prime suspect,Ashes to Ashes all really good cop shows.
Oh yes…loved that.
Had the same ending as Lost…but that’s another thread😀!
Hi
Annika, realistic and shows the human side of policing.
This thread mentions a few
It only got one series though.
Unless I failed to notice a second.
I see the BBC are showing it…it was originally on Alibi
John Thaw was a good actor wasn’t he?Jack Regan and Morse .You couldn’t get two more different characters.
And the entire series was filmed outdoors, well most of it anyway. It’s fascinating to see how the streets of London used to be.
.
A really gritty, down to earth cop series. I must get round to buying the boxed set on DVD.
To put a musical angle on this thread I fancied some mellowish music on while getting involved with the housework, the punk kicks in this evening.
Alexa is kindly playing the theme from Van Der Valk, terrific, haven’t heard it for yonks!
Another thoroughly enjoyable old cop series.
A lot of the Sweeney, car chases in all, was filmed in Fulham, wasteland by the river, all developed now with luxury apartments.
Anyone remember Callan with Edward Woodward? Late 60s/early 70s. Good story line: spies 'n stuff.
Yep …an old friend of mine grew up in Fulham, he remembers so many of those streets, locations, he’s a real Sweeney addict.
What sticks in my mind was all that corrugated steel fencing that was ubiquitous in many parts of London, often covered in posters advertising gigs.
Anybody remember “No Hiding Place” from the 1950s? I think it was the first cops and robbers show I ever saw. From memory the opening titles were over the old Wolsley police cars ringing their bells and driving into (old) Scotland Yard.
I found the titles on Youtube but not quite how I remember them
Law & Order - Special Victims Unit
Does Law&Order count?
I like stuff away from the norm. My favourite is “Grimm” closely followed by " The Dresden Files"
I also like “Murdoch Mysteries” and the “Miss Fisher Mysteries”
Bringing it close to home I love Shetland and Rebus.
A very catchy intro for this programme musically speaking.
Raymond Huntley?
I think, the only other at the time would have been Dixon of Dock Green, evening all.
