He’s quite an interesting character in a make you want to puke sort of way :nauseated_face:

A right wing troll and wanna be political commentator, a bit like a wannabee Katie Hopkins.

He started the Reclaim political part and stood as Mayor of London and lost his deposit

He’s very anti woke, anti vaccines, anti masks, anti most things really

He used to be an actor, he was in Lewis and was married to Billie Piper.

Crystal and Simon Blake are taking legal action against him because he called them paedophiles on Twitter

As can age and curmudgeonness…

I think she was saying that she doesn’t recognise them as biological women but acknowledges that once they have gone through the legal procedure of getting a Gender Recognition Certificate then they are legally women in the eyes of the law

ah, but, she has said:

I’m a woman, I’m a biological woman. If I had a mastectomy, in future years, I would still be a woman. I’m a woman in every cell of my body. I’m also legally a woman. And people who have been through the gender recognition process, the gender reassignment, some people will have a birth certificate reissued to them in their new gender and in law, they will be in their new gender. And when you’re writing law about those people, you have to take that into account. That doesn’t mean they’re identical to me.

She doesn’t see “those people” as a women like her, apparently.

She’s shilly-shallying … :090:

Thanks for the extra info re Fox @Maree - I’m glad he’s not in the
Tory Leadership Contest!

Voting will have closed now for the 1st round - we may get the results just in time for pre-dinner Cocktails - I’ll have to look for a suitably named concoction to make! :cocktail:
I wonder who’ll be celebrating and who’ll be commiserating.

I only know who won’t be caring.

Sunak and Mordaunt top poll of Conservative MPs

Here’s a look at those results again - a reminder that six of the eight candidates have cleared the hurdle of securing the support of 30 MPs.

Nadhim Zahawi and Jeremy Hunt - who both have extensive Cabinet-level experience - are the two who are not going through.

Hunt’s another that I’m glad to see the back of … :041:

I’d say it would either be Penny Mordaunt of Liz Truss who becomes PM as they’re the favourites amongst the membership. And going by PMQ’s today if I was an MP I’d choose Mordaunt as can’t think of anything that Labour can throw at her.

Hi

I have been retired a few years now, so do not have personal experience of some of the candidates.

I am still on some forums and my younger Ex Colleagues , those that I trust, are not over enamoured by either.

The Universal thing however is please not Truss.

She cannot deliver on her promises and she is considered a joke Internationally.

I don’t set much store by Sunak getting the most votes at this stage - there’s many a slip twixt cup and lip - most of the other candidates are quite different from Sunak - he seems the most “centrist” and the only one not going down the tax cuts route, so as those with fewer votes are voted out, their supporters are more likely to switch to a candidate making similar promises.

Personally, Sunak sounds the best plan to me but I think the Tory membership are more likely to go for one of the others and Mordaunt sounds the best of the other bunch to me - really hope it won’t be Truss.

I think Sunak is too linked with Johnson, Covid etc and people are looking for a fresh face

Well worth watching Penny Mordaunt put Ian Blackford in his place, they’ll be quaking if she gets in. Think all the Scots should be made to watch this to see how they’re being conned:

Doesn’t look like Lord Frost is impressed by Penny Mordaunt, but I’d like to hear her side of the story:

Tory leadership race: Liz Truss bids to make final two

Liz Truss has pledged to boost the economy through tax cuts, as she bids to regain the initiative in the race to be the next Conservative leader. The foreign secretary said she was “ready to be prime minister from day one”, as she launched her campaign. She is currently third behind Penny Mordaunt and Rishi Sunak after the first round of voting by Tory MPs.

The MPs are whittling down the field to two contenders, who will then face a vote of Tory Party members. The second round of MPs’ voting has begun. The secret ballot, which will see the candidate with the fewest votes eliminated, takes place between 11:30-13:30 BST, with a result expected at 15:00 BST.

In a speech launching her campaign, Ms Truss pledged to move away from “business-as-usual economic management,” adding this had delivered “low growth for decades”. She promised to reverse April’s National Insurance hike, reverse next year’s scheduled rise in corporation tax and set up “low tax zones” to help attract business. She re-committed to Mr Johnson’s levelling up project to reduce regional inequalities “in a Conservative way”.

And in a bid to emphasise her experience in government, she said she had “consistently delivered” and shown she wouldn’t “give in to Whitehall”. Ms Truss sought to stress her leadership credentials on Brexit and defence, but warned that the economy would “not get back on track overnight”. She promised to get the country on an upwards trajectory by 2024 and added she would seek to treat debt taken on in response to the Covid pandemic as a one-off event, paying it off over a longer period of time.

Asked about whether her backing for Mr Johnson could count against her, Ms Truss said that she was a “loyalist” and had supported his aspirations.

God preserve us from this dim-witted woman …

Sour grapes on his part, perhaps?

I doubt whether “dim witted” would have got her to one of the highest offices of state…

But…but…whit aboot inderpendense :astonished:

Sarcasm aside, i don’t have much faith in what she says either…I’m scunnered with the lot of them
