I no longer make Christmas cakes, this was my last one of a few years ago…

I haven’t made a Christmas cake since I was at school in home economics. I am making a baked cheesecake instead.

This time of the year I make my Christmas cake, made it yesterday. I’ll put some sherry in it and then cover it with cling film and put in a air tight container, then every so often i’ll put a bit more sherry in.

That’s exactly what my granny used to do. Every year she’d make the first cake, then say

“I’ve spoiled that cake, we’d better slap some icing on it and eat it”

And me, being a gullible kid, really believed she’d done something wrong to it!

I was about 18 before it occurred to me that granny had never spoiled a cake in her life :rofl:
