I mean by the heading I am getting rid of all my tripod ball heads and changing to manfrotto arca swiss heads instead. then I can use any camera on any tripod without swapping base plates. Only a few seconds now to swap from camcorder to camera
Just got the last tripod head arriving today.
so now I will be able to go from camcorder to camera without flaffing about on ay tripod. these in the photo are the smaller heads that don’t open wide enough to take manfrotto base plates.
so selling them as a package
now I have everything Can show the diffence. no more fiddling about
Up to now I have been using 2 different tripod plate clamps collected over the years. So decided about time I got this sorted. Ss I mainly use Manfrotto seems reasonable to match everything. Now with latest purchase I can put a camera/camcorder onto any tripod without messing about changing plates. Should have done this a long time ago, the time saved swapping over is only a few seconds as shown in the video above . I chose manfrotto because the plates clamps are also have a catch so they don’t fall out. I am using the Manfrotto MHV400 head. you see me pushing the safety release button on the side also hear it click into place
To be honest, not that impressed. What’s with all the screwing during release and mounting? My tripod has a spring loaded lever so the camera base releases quickly and the new device just clicks into place, wouldn’t that be better (it is certainly quicker)?
(Not that I ever use a tripod except about twice a decade)
I am fully away of the item your talking about and maybe your correct. However I an already set up for using the gear I have, so pointless spending more money on a different method.
Then the question of balance pops up. Your way you cannot allow for a camcorder or camera with a heavy lens tipping forward or backwards . Having what I use it is easy to adjust balance by sliding the plate foreward or backwards, Not only where the plate is attached to the camera but also where it is attached to the tripod
My camcorder with handle and microphone weighs in at 3.2 lb or with extra lighting 5lb. that is a lot of weight for an unbalanced rig
