Cancelled our holiday

have decided to cancell our Grand European river cruise due to covid19 in Europe.
Sue now booking for sea cruise around Norway and then to Iceland next year . Faroe Islands included
Hopefully this one will go ahead as we now have not had a holiday for over 2 years

Booking the cruise in the first place was the height of optimism.

Why not hire a narrow boat and have a cruise on the canals or take a tour of the Cotswolds in the UK?

Foreign parts are dodgy places at the moment. Make Britain great again by holidaying at home.

Anyway you are retired, every day is a holiday.

After 2 summers of C 19, those lucky enough to be thinking of a holiday have the ideal opportunity to take one here and help our economy .

The UK has such beautiful and diverse areas, something for everyone …

Meg, l think most places in the U.K. are all booked up!

Most of us have not had a holiday for 2 years or more, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If we go this away year, it will definitely be in this country where it will be much safer and helpful in getting the UK back on its feet.

These days, the very thought of organising things at home, packing a suitcase, sitting in an airport for hours on end, then sitting in scorching sun, fills me with horror!

Hear hear! stand by your own country in hard times

For goodness sake what a load of stick in the muds with no sense of adventure.
Next year hopefully where we intend to go will be mainly free of the covid business and the vouchers we have can be used with Viking.
this is what we have booked but not saying which dates for obvious reaseons

No RS, we are not stick in the muds, just sensible and thoughtful … with thoughts of safety for ourselves and others.

I won’t be going anywhere until the mask rule is dropped.

My last hotel holiday 2 years ago we had to wear masks everywhere - couldn’t sit near people - couldn’t socialise - no dancing.

It was horrible. I complained & got ÂŁ100 back!!

Not been away for a whole 2 years RS?

Good grief man, that’s awful. However do you cope?

I had a long weekend away in Norfolk several years ago, we had the perfect place - for me anyway - right next to the sea. I could watch, and smell, the sea all day, luv it.

Other than that, I haven’t been away for about 40 years, and you’re complaining about just 2!

Everything I love is at home, so why would I want to pay loads of money to leave it?

As others have said, I think it was a bit daft to book as early as you did.

Good job we’re not all the same though, else holiday firms would go bust.

We booked and paid for our holiday in Devon back in 2019, to go in 2020, obviously it didn’t happen but it’s going ahead this June, so, looking forward to that…

We hope to be able to go to Devon again, a spacious self contained apartment for two.

I have been trying for a caravan or cottage stay up Cromer way. Nothing available. True I have only looked for May or June, cheaper months, but they are all gone.

Seriously, you think a cruise where you are waited on hand, foot and finger and every trip for you and 900 passengers is choreographed is an adventure? It is not like you haven’t been cruising before. You and I have very different ideas of an adventure.

An adventure is something out of your comfort zone. In a few weeks my daughter and I are going into the Simpson Desert to visit Camerons Corner. It is 140km of dirt road east of Tibooburra which itself is 330 km north of Broken Hill again a lot of dirt road. I estimate about 3000km trip all up and it will take us three weeks (ish)

Fuel and water sources are few and far between, now that, in my opinion, is going to be an adventure.

Personally I think hiring a narrow boat and setting off on England’s canal network is far more of an adventure than cruising.

Yeah! Good luck with being thoughtful and considerate of others in this instance. ( meaning with realspeed )

I thought your country was civilised. Dirt roads ? honestly don’t your local authorities use Tarmac or have they not heard of the product. Seems to me there are thousands of jobs right there making the roads up. When they have done that think of the follow up jobs filling in the pot holes. Then there could be a lot more McDonalds with all the jobs that would create.

Staying local for us if we get away. Scotland is beautiful in the summertime.

well before I got married I went up to Scotland and had a great time. A really friendly place to visit.

Little story
My pal and I drove up to Scotland and just crossed the border. it was eary morning so we pulled into a small village and sat the the vehicle waiting for the cafe to open.

Up come this great big copper and asked what we were up to. We said we were waiting for the cafe to open as we had driving up from the south of ENgland and were hungry.
So what did he do ? We could not believe it. He went to the cafe owners house and woke the guy up to get him to open up for us. That was our first introduction to Scottish hospitality
