BT Landline Query

Anybody else a BT landline user. I’ve received a letter today to say that from now on I’ll have to plug my phone into my internet hub. I’m a complete techno phobe. I’ve got a landline both upstairs and downstairs. Does that mean that I’ll no longer be able to have this does anybody know.

A lot of info here @wendeey

Can’t help but I’m with BT and haven’t received anything like this.

My phone line is connected to my Virgin internet hub. I have a base unit which is connected to the hub and two handsets in other rooms.
Thing to remember if it’s connected to the hub is if you loose wifi or electric the phone won’t work. So you may need a mobile as a back up for emergency’s. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks MrFraggle, looks like I’ll have to get an adaptor and call BT which is something I didn’t want to do, normally takes two hours and they use lingo I haven’t a clue what they’re going on about grrrrr

Thanks Chillie I have a mobile, but it stays in my handbag as it’s only used for my kids to contact me when I’m out in an emergency. So when I’m in the house I can never hear it lol

Caricature do you have a landline though as this is only for landline users.

Yes landline and broadband .

We kept getting problems with the hard connection in the street. The engineers came out and recommended connection to the hub. They had to ring Virgin services to get it set up properly. Don’t know if BT would be the same.
Did they send you a guide of what to do ?

And is it connected by fibre really weird if this isn’t the case or maybe it’s just in the post. I received mine this morning and an email a few days ago.

Chillie that’s all above my knowledge. I’ve got two thingies in the wall one that I plug my landline in and the other that I plug my internet into.

I’ll get back to you if its the case.

Are you with BT for your Broadband?

This is interesting thanks @wendeey I’m just about to buy a new landline phone. Gonna rethink this.

MrFraggle yes for Broadband, landline and mobile. Although my mobile is very basic and only costs £5 a month as I hardly use it and definitely not for internet things, only for making calls and texts.

In that case you will be reiving a new hub and it will just be a question of swapping all the cables from your old hub to the new and plugging in your phone.

Yes I had a wall socket for my landline. But my internet is cable and goes directly to my hub.
I think Mr Fraggle may be right (unusually :joy:)

Law of averages don’t you know.

I have a BT line and had no such notification, sounds like a scam to me. your master socket should have two ports on it. one for line and the other for data like thisl

from there one into the router the other into the twin wireless phone setup. All BT

Whats a hub?
