Brexit benefits - where are they?

What are the real benefits ?
Unfortunately we went into Brexit with just that ie the unscrupulous bumbler Johnson .

It makes one wonder if it might have been possible to have had at least a better start to the Brexit process if we had had someone with ability in charge at the time? Or was/is it always a doomed project?

@Dexrouse, Brexit in name only ??
I knew it when May " took control" :worried::worried:

Are you blaming May for doing her best in a situation she must have known was hopeless ?

I don’t think that TL3 ‘s should be neutral they are not moderators .

A simple list of the Brexit benefits will do instead of evasive waffling

One Brexit benefit is that there’s no longer a load of brexiteers braying and whinging about wanting a Brexit referendum.

Likewise for the benefits of being IN the EU!

You being evasive again just answer the question or admit there aren’t any . .

You know perfectly well Muddy that the benefits from Brexit will not be realised for a few years yet…Did you not read my post earlier? Or did you just ignore it?
For your benefit, I’ve re-posted it…

I know nothing of the sort !
I did read you posts and they are a master class in evasion .
What are these future benefits ?
How do you know there will be future benefits ?

Strikes me as erroneous perception plus wishful thinking .

@Muddy, OGF has just told you !
We are still paying into the EU coffers,(God knows why?)
But these payments will soon be ending! when they do we will be£15 billion
better off pa.
In two years we should be taking full control of our fishing again with the
further benefits that will bring! ( I leave you to look up how much that is worth
to the EU!)
Our imports from the EU are allready dropping and should continue to do so!
eventually cancelling out our import imbalance with the EU !
Our dependence on EU for food etc will end and our suppliers will be more diverse thus ending the blackmail applied by EU to persuade our leaders to their will !
Instead of importing our fish from EU, We will be exporting !
No more French threats to turn the power off to the channel Islands !
Must l go on ??

There was a newspaper article published here that said the deal May negotiated was actually better for the UK than the one Boris got. I don’t know if that is true and it was so long ago I doubt I could find the article. Though I do recall my brother said much the same - he was very much in favour of Brexit.

No he hasn’t actually .
The payments to the EU may go on for years - we are committed to paying EU staff pensions !
We ‘should’ take control of our fishing ?
More wishful thinking .
We have negotiated an extra 10% of our quota that doesn’t sound very much to me which is why you have given not given any figures because the fishing people have been thrown under the Bus .
The Boris bus .
Where ever we get our food from it won’t replace our imports from the EU ,and the EU has high standards which may not be the same elsewhere .
Any fish we might catch will probably all go to home consumption there won’t be any left to export .
The French threats to turn off power to the Channel Islands is not one that effects most of Britain .
It all BS anyway it’s against International law not to mention Human Rights .
So far the ‘benefits’ mentioned are not exactly making one jump for joy .
Was that worth of robbing whole generations of Britons the chance to study and work on the Continent?
I don’t think so

@ Muddy, Exactly wot l fort!
You should take your blinkers orf you can’t see properly ?
Now give me some tangible benefits of belonging to the EU as you promised !
Something that results in our GDP going up, and not down?
Now do your bit and prove to me that there are some benefits?
Some black and white figures of something that resulted in UKs
coffers filling up?
I will wait patiently for for list ? :worried::worried:

No thanks because that would be off topic for this thread .
Nor do I like blustering rude demands

Muddy is correct my question was asking very specifically for Brexit benefits. Despite 117 responses there have been just a few that have vaguely nodded in that direction.
So … Donkeyman Brexit means a lot to you, you feel it was the right choice can you just answer the question, what in your opinion are the benefits. Not future maybe/possibly benefits but ones that we can see here and now?

Not baiting, not winding you up, just seeking an answer.

@Baxter18 , You are right, nothing immediate !
But l don’t believe in instant gratification anyway ?
You will have to wait, like a farmer has to wait for seeds to grow ?
I have pointed out some of the immediate disadvantages of joining the EU
countless times over the last five years , and l have just done so just now ?
But as you say the title of the thread bars any proper discussion !

Again, a claim (in a Rees-Smug fashion) that any benefits of Brexit will take years to emerge. Quite disappointing given that back (years ago) in 2016 the promise by the leave camp was that benefits would be as quick and easy as it would be to establish a new trade arrangement with the EU post-Brexit. I’d certainly be disappointed if I thought my leave vote was intended to make things better for the UK within the foreseeable future. And as a remain voter I do think my judgement back 6 years ago was correct: mostly downside, little upside to Brexit.
As an aside I’d welcome a separate thread on the benefits of being in the EU and the single market. We could even chat about fish!
