Thanks for this. It proves my point from across so many of my posts. Brexit fans are dumb. Here is why, based on your quoted article that tries to claim the don’t leave camp was full of lies. (Whereas the leave camp was full of lies.)
“The idea of an EU army was a dangerous fantasy: In April 2014, Nigel Farage and Nick Clegg debated EU membership.”
Let’s take this ill-informed article in the order that it presents its rubbish. I added the quoted date to demonstrate the fiction – 10 years ago Farage claimed the EU army was imminent. Hello? Not happened. More Brexit scare mongering. Or, as I prefer, lies.
“Voting to leave the EU would have an immediate detrimental effect on the UK’s economy”
This is my favourite. This badly informed article cites a quote that the “Remainer” predictions are rubbish because they say Brexit will cause a 6% hit on UK GDP. The OBR confirms it will be a 4% hit. Wow. 6% or 4%? I personally would have preferred a zero percent hit of staying in the EU.
“Britain would be at the “back of the queue” for a US trade deal”
True. Tell me this is not true. Utterly wrong and utterly dumb.
"This was a once in a generation decision, and there would be no going back”
True. Going back will mean losing all the fantastic special membership conditions the UK had. It will take exceptional pain for the UK to accept the euro and that is a certain condition of re-joining. Leaving was the greatest act of stupid self harm the UK could have done.
“A hard border would be required in Ireland if there was a no-deal Brexit”
True. See various protocols and agreements. All based on the hard border - and this was a fully predictable issue arising from Brexit. It is simply that the Brexit fans decided to ignore it. Until it was in place - so much for Brexit fan predictions: wrong, wrong, and wrong again.
“Migrant camps would appear throughout South East England”
In effect true. But the lovely home sectary decided that Rwanda is a part of South East England. Leaving the EU exacerbated the refugee issue. Leaving created more of a problem.
“Families would be £4,300 worse off if Britain left the EU” To get this figure, HM Treasury forecast that in 2030 the UK economy would be 6% smaller if we voted to leave See above. Its 4%. Not a lie, just a high estimate. Like £350m a week perhaps.
So your quoted article simply confirms that the don’t leave camp merely anticipated the problems of leaving the EU. And the fact that you cite this article says … a lot about you. And it also confirms the blatant lies of the leave campaign. So thanks for sharing.
