Brexit benefits - where are they?

@Muddy,. I dispute our car designes were good !
For instance one particular manufacturer was still producing a three bearing
crankshaft engine when others had moved to five bearings !!
The management of British companies were extremely slow to carry out
upgrade to engines and as a consequence the engines stayed heavy and
leaky and were still using pushrods when others allready had overhead
camshafts etc
Fuel injection was also late in British cars!
This was all due to the british management of that time who were happy
to keep the same design for mechanicals and only change the shape
of the tin bits occasionally !
They even had the cheek to ask for government help to upgrade their
tooling ??
This was denied obviously ! !
So it was not striking workers that caused the decline of the British car
industry, but the parsimony of the management !!:roll_eyes:

Good to see you back Bread…

into the treasury you mean to pay for the vast interest payments on the loans. Perhaps if bankers donated their bonuses to the NHS etc people would feel more sympathetic

We made some decent motors. Landrover among others. The trouble is that multinational giants were better at strategic thinking and running competitive businesses. So our businesses were swallowed up. It’s a pity about Austin rover. They made nice little cars. The trouble with Britain is that we prefer to get other people to make things for us. It’s just so much easier. Delegation is a big thing here.

No one will ever know what the Benefits were because so much confusion was generated, such is life.

There’s no confusion. The tories are making a pig’s ear of running the country. Brexit was their idea and if there are no obvious benefits then it’s their fault for making a mess of it along with everything else they touch.

All the remainers are confused Annie. They haven’t realised who they should be loyal to.

@AnnieS, l fort Nigel Farage invented Brexit Annie, the Tories only picked up on
it when Farage started taking votes from them ??
History is getting twisted allready!!:roll_eyes:

UKIP was around before Farage took over the helm, as Was the short lived Referendum Party.

@Dextrous63 , Maybe so, But Annie’s statement that the Tories spawned
Brexit is clearly skewed ?? Thanks for the correction though !! :+1::grin::+1:

Surely David Cameron spawned the whole sorry sage as a bid to stay in power? Farage and his bunch of outcasts may have made a lot of noise but they didn’t really have any power at all.

What is more significant than Farage, UKIP and the rest was:
a) the pro-leave fans in the government (tory party) got the referendum they wanted - this is, the 50% hurdle and the open wording of in or out (specifically no details on the nature of leave)
b) the government post the referendum (tory party) wangled the hardest Brexit they could realistically get, even though the indications before the referendum vote was the lightest post-Brexit changes would be put in place
So the claim that the Brexit we have is down to the tory party seems very justifiable.

@Bruce ,. Not at all, Cameron was losing ground in the voting to Farages
Brexit party, so much so that coming from nothing, Farage was on an even
footing with the Tories in the polls ! Cameron promised a referendum in order
to get some of those votes ? Obviously planning to fudge things if the ref
vote went the “wrong” way !
The rest is history as they say !:roll_eyes:

There are very few “remainers” left OGF. The term is so last decade. Brexit has also happened. We are where we are and there is nothing to do but move forward now and stop hanging on to terminology and labels past their sell-by date.

I was referring to the referendum which was their idea. They were in power and put the motion forward did they not?

Annie,

Respect what you say, but pretty much all of the Topics raised on the subject have been by Remainers.

They keep going over it like Divorcees.

"Why did you do this, what did you gain by that?

“Who’s going to pay for all this?”

And so on , and so on, and…!

Correct me if I’m wrong!

Perhaps the new term should now be Returners?

@Dextrous63 More like stay putters, otherwise it’s wishful thinking ?:roll_eyes:
