Democratic challenger Joe Biden has won the US presidential election.
The BBC projects that he has reached 273 electoral college votes, meaning that he’ll become the president in January, pending the outcome of any legal challenges.
Pennsylvania has just been projected as a win for Biden.
And that’s it, after a long wait, he is now over the threshold of the 270 electoral college votes needed.
I loved the way the US news programmes cut Trump’s latest “it’s all lies” public speech in its middle yesterday, to go back to the studio and comment on something completely different!
Like they were finally relieved to be able to ignore the idiot and concentrate on reporting actual events!
It’s not exactly an unexpected win for Biden (and that’s if it stays that way) but the support for Trump and the narrow margin of victory for Biden after the very incorrect polling does not bode well for the future.
It’s written in the US Constitution that the new term of office begins on 20 January at noon.
It happens at a ceremony called the inauguration which takes place in the capital, Washington DC. The new president and vice-president take an oath of office administered by the Supreme Court chief justice.
So expect to see Joe Biden and Kamala Harris inaugurated on 20 January 2021.
Hopefully, Trump will have moved his belongings and his parasitic family out of the White House long before than so it can be fully sanitised after numerous infections of staff … :!:
While it is not yet official, it certainly looks like Biden has won. However, expect that the issue will finally be decided in the courts. Trump has launched numerous court challenges in 3 of the states.
Trump refuses to concede after Biden declared president-elect
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. The simple fact is this election is far from over,” Trump said. “Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated”.
Trump claims, without evidence, that the Biden campaign “wants ballots counted even if they are fraudulent, manufactured, or cast by ineligible or deceased voters”.
The simple fact is that this election IS over. The final votes will continue to be counted in dozens of states, but there is no way for Trump to come back in the presidential race at this point. The fact of the matter is, Biden has the electoral votes to win the White House, and he will be sworn in as president in January.
The president’s reelection campaign has filed lawsuits in multiple battleground states this week, but several of them have already been dismissed, and Biden’s team has dismissed them as “meritless.”
The Biden campaign has just sent out this statement, moments after Joe Biden was projected to become the first candidate in a quarter century to defeat an incumbent president:
A far cry from the inflammatory rhetoric of Trump …
If Trump wasn’t such a liar & so in love with himself he could have won another term!
If the US has so many possible presidents why don’t they have better people trying to run their country?
I hope Joe Biden isn’t too old for the job & doesn’t become as big a joke as Trump did!
