The “tracing” services never found them - if they’d been on the loose, they could have easily infected enough to cause one or more outbreaks … !
… and why were their contact details not recorded correctly - border control and associated services are hardly overwhelmed at the moment … 
… but they had quarantined! … that’s all you need ‘worry’ about.

Yup, our media do have this tendency to be very selective about what they want us to see and all too often miss out the context or relevant factors completely which, of course, leads to very misleading stories.
Some people however seem to thrive on such “fake news” …
It took almost a month to locate a missing positive case
On March 5, Health Secretary Hancock proudly announced that a carrier of a Brazilian variant of concern had been located after going missing due to an incomplete passenger locator form.
It took five days after the case was identified as a variant of concern for Test and Trace to locate the missing person.
In a desperate bid to locate the person, Matt Hancock held a press conference in which he urged anyone who could be the person to “get in touch”.
The search was narrowed down to 379 houses in the south east, before the person was eventually located in Croydon.
Matt Hancock praised the “dogged determination” of health authorities who found the missing case.
I make it 3 weeks but, nevertheless, that’s a long time for a possible “superspreader” to be on the loose in the community and longer than I inferred from the original reports … :shock:

and there have been no reports of the further spread of that particular strain. So all’s well that ends well…
According to the DM (yes, I know) this man handed himself in. Checks were ongoing afterwards to find out if anyone else tested in the Croydon area, where he was found, had been infected:

So what? He was doing the right thing by isolating which meant no contact with the outside until after that period.

Four more cases of Brazil variant found in England
Three cases of the P.1 variant are in South Gloucestershire and are said to be close or household contacts of the two existing cases in the area.
The other new case was identified in Bradford.
The person tested positive for Covid-19 in late February after travelling back from Brazil via Paris on 14 February.
The new South Gloucestershire cases were uncovered when people were offered testing in response to the initial cases found in the area last month.
Specialist contact tracing teams are working to identify any further contacts and additional testing has been in place since the initial cases were identified.
Contact-tracers have advised close contacts of the individual in Bradford to isolate and get a test.
An interesting snippet from the paper a few days ago:

Personally, I don’t think their should even be any mink farms in the first place, but if this goes on, I can visualise another mass of would-be do gooders and those that just enjoy killing, murdering wildlife like the Badger killers do.
I have my own theory on how this wretched disease started, but it’s sometimes best not to say.
It’s more effective than a mask to prevent catching covid Omah…Or at least, dying from worrying about catching it…
