Boris Johnson widely regarded as a ‘liar’ by voters, poll finds

It is my genuine hope that Boris will be rewarded by what many of us feel is just and fair.
His sacking as PM.

I think you will find I did clarify the evidence for the BREXIT swing was questionable. Also, You are making wild assumptions as to my definition of Democracy. What you are inferring has no relationship to what I have said. Please read my post again.

I remember all of it, didn’t buy it the first time round.

@Socrates, The vote for Brexit was largely driven by the fact that us
poor working ignoramuses got the stupid idea that we were getting
progressively worse off since joining the EU ??
Where did we get that idea from?
Could it be that our fishing fleet had been given away, causing thousands
of fishermen and ancillary workers having to be ‘reskilled’ or take early
retirements?
Could it be that our industries were sold off at knock down prices with!
Thousands of skilled workers made redundant under Maggie Thatcher’s
great de-industrialisation of the UK in favour of becoming a ‘service’ driven
economy?
Could it be that we agreed to pay billions every year to the EU for the
pleasure of being a member whilst cutting back on our own investment
in our own infrastructure?
I can never get my head around why so soon after joining the EU, which l
suppose we did in order to do trade with the ‘biggest free trading’ organisation
in the world, we then started dismantling the only means we had of achieving
selling anything at all to anybody ??
All these things were implemented by the very people you have been extolling
in your previous recent posts!
The people who ‘understand’ how things work ?? HA! HA! HA!

Very well put, DM.
I’d be very interested to hear what some remainers have to say about that.

But that’s America , in the entire vast country they could only choose between two elderly men ?
One a egomaniac and the other in his dotage .

The Global Machine was joining the party, the next logical step was to deindustrialize, and sell the concept as the future.

Boris is a self seeking liar he campaigned convincingly for Brexit knowing it was not in the best interests of the U.K.

The people who ‘understand’ how things work.
You are actually underlining my point. First of all , the fact that the UK, at that time, was called ‘the sick man of Europe.’ After joining the UK growth rate was higher than the rest of Europe. The loss of the fisheries was undeniably a failure in the original negotiations and has been made even worse by BREXIT.

The sell off of our assets was, and always has been the prime directive of the Tory Party. That was as obvious to all but the less politically astute at the time. People ‘trusted’ thatcher. A key ingredient in a working democracy is knowing and trusting who you vote for. Unfortunately, most people do not even think of politics and therefore never challenge their politicians and you get what you vote for.

Prior to thatcher, many more people did think and understand about politics. The generation that suffered the 30s, the war and pre NHS was still in their memories. That was why Churchill, the hero of WWII was kicked out after his success.

Todays generation of voters, voted for a clown. No memories of the previous hardships and the success of socialist policies just after the war. They ‘trusted’ Johnson, a known liar after their disgust with Blair for claims of his lying about Iraq. Go figure that one.

This is why I say that the populace cannot make decisions that should be made by people that know. But it is wholly dependent on a populace that gives a shit about the choices they make in their politicians. People should ask themselves, how many local or national politicians do I know personally, have confronted directly and challenged? As I said, you get what you vote for. I was a local politician for 8 years. I can count on one hand the number of people who challenged me directly on my policies or my vision for the community. You should try it. It would amaze 90% of todays politicians as they will never have experienced it before.

Union Reps had it tough too, with their electorate, thankless task.

@Socrates, l see you didn’t,(or couldn’t?) explain why, after joining the EU,
we then proceeded to destroy the only means we had to benefit from being a member, ergo, trading ? Doing that shows a complete lack of insight into
‘how things work’ imo, not the opposite ?
I see you agree that the fishing industry debacle was a. disaster, bordering
on the criminal imo! Why did’nt the polititions of the day refuse to join
the CFP, it was obvious to anybody with a grain of common sense what the results would be? The answer to that is ’ that they did’nt give a shyte’ to
use your own phrase !! They were desperate to join ‘the club’ which they
believed would save UK from bankruptcy caused by their own previous dithering
policies ?
It is my opinion that UK has suffered from ‘ditherring’ since the Attlee
government left office, the latest ‘dither’ being the fiasco of BREXIT, and we
will never prosper untill it is fully implemented !!

Hi
We are not all idiots.

There are some highly intelligent people on this Forum who voted for Brexit.

I do not consider myself as highly intelligent.

I was simply part of the system, knew where it was going and decided it was not for me.

You would be surprised if you knew how many Public Employees voted for Brexit.

For anybody interested:

That puzzled me greatly as well.
If the opponents to Trump (and to be honest, I liked him) could come up only with Biden, what on earth were they hoping for?

In what way was it not in our interests?

Really? What is the term for an electoral system under which only perceived experts are permitted to vote?
I assume from your comments that you are not entirely in favour of universal adult suffrage.

You mean like eton or oxbridge educated planks who haven’t got a clue about the needs of yer average working class person. And there are more of us than them. One of the reasons Cameron got it totally wrong about how the country felt about the EU and we would never have had the referendum if he suspected what the outcome would be. What ever happened to that loser by the way? He probably landed on his feet doing after dinner talks.
