Without googling it, can anyone recall the origin of the concept of Humpty Dumpty and who it’s based on /a parody of? I read about it a couple of months ago, but have forgotten.

I don’t know what the story is behind Humpty Dumpty, but it’s probably quite gruesome like some of the other nursery rhymes.
Goosey Goosey Gander may be about religious persecution, while Lucy Locket is about 18th Century prostitutes, writes Clemency Burton-Hill.
I wonder what ‘Wee Willy Winky’ was associated with…

I didn’t google ‘Humpty Dumpty’ Specifically Dex…I wrote my intro before I googled the general dark side of nursery rhymes just to demonstrate an example of what nursery rhymes usually refer to. I couldn’t see ‘Humpty Dumpty’ actually mentioned in the link…
But if it breaks the rules…I’m sorry sir…
