The eclipse is not visible in the UK but there is another later in the year which will be. I also believe it will be earlier than the 3am one I saw a few years ago
27th July 2018 at its maximum 21.21

Itās a blood moon too.
Because of the total lunar eclipse on the 31st January it will be a blood blue moon. According to the papers it is 14% bigger than at its apogee and will be 30% brighter (?)
Over 150 years since the last trifecta (Super, Blue and Blood) so I am quite looking forward to it. Though really blue moon means bugger all except to the Gregorian Calender.
I saw the blood super moon in November 2016 (I think) and it really was very red but not particularly noticeably bigger (I didnāt think).
I look forward to seeing some of those, Nom, your photos are always excellent.
Took these September 2015 about 3am
These occurrences must have mystified our ancestors, especially as they would appear much stronger in a sky without light pollution.
Same with the Northern Lights
My friend in Scotland sent me this picture of the Northern Lights.
I think she said it was taken in Iceland.

Wow thatās fantastic. I must see the Northern lights.
The moon is very bright tonight and yesterday I could see it through my Kitchen window at 4pm when it was still daylight.:surprised:
I noticed that tonight too, Twink. It is very beautiful and clear and bright.
What an amazing picture
Thank you Mags, and I love it too.
It is extra special to me because my dear friend of about 25 years died just before Christmas of brain cancer, so I cherish her pictures.
Thatās a lovely memory to keep of your friend, Mups
I hope that in all that effort to get the perfect photo, you sit back and just take in all that loveliness.
How perfect.
Iām repeating Rhianās mantra, crossing fingers and toes for your club, Nom.
Bom bom bom be bom bom be bom
Bom be bom bom bom bom bom be bom
Bluuuuuu Moooooooooon
Perhaps because it is both a Red and Blue moon it should be called a Magenta Moon.
The eclipse proper starts at about 10:45pm and is complete at 11.50pm
Save me typing I found a chart:
Now all I have to do is remember it is on and hope the sky is clear.
There is an animation here:
Stick to the day job Floydy:)
I hope itās not cloudy, Iāll definitely go take a peek at it although the weatherās not looking promising, fingers crossed for no cloud
Hummph! Itās 9.56pm Tuesday, just went out to have a look at the moon. A southerly change has come through and it is raining. No sign of the moon at all
Thatās known as an Aurora Corona and was taken in Iceland
ItĀ“s 19.04 here and the moon is huge and bright, you wouldnĀ“t need a torch outside tonight.
