Well if media reports are to be believed JB, Putin is the reason why energy prices are so high. So I don’t think he needs to cross any water, he’s almost got us on our knees just with sanctions, and who do you think owns half of London?

Nor the average Russian.
They have only ever known and understood dictators (Tsars, Stalin etc) up to the break up of the USSR. Famine, genocide etc is just one of those things. They don’t ‘get’ democracy. Russia is what the UK could have been if we had tried to hold onto the Empire by force (assuming that was even possible).
Putin is trying to Put The Band Back Together by force not realising that Ian Gilmour is never going to gig with him again whatever he does. But he has to be ‘stronk’ because that’s what he has sold to the fans, the fans want to believe it and he has an LP to sell. Problem is, The Tour is going all Spinal Tap meets the Stones Altamont gig, but The Show Must Go On.
Made in April, this YouTube video is entitled The Postmodern Hell of Russian Propaganda. I cannot help wondering if the Russians and their useful idiots have been involved in the rise of things such as identity politics and attacking our history, institutions, and so on. Government and media have responded to this, and that has contributed to the West looking weak, which I suspect encouraged Putin to invade Ukraine, assuming that the West would not help Ukraine.

I have a different view however.
Russia has no need to invade us at all and being the first to use Strategic Nukes would be incredibly stupid.
You are right in that we are an island, a very heavily populated one.
We have have a very limited anti missile system and a very concentrated defensive system.
Russia can cut off our electronic systems very easily and cause enormous damage, our NHS simply could not cope.
The HOT lines between Putin and Biden would be red hot.
Biden will not defend us, he knows the effect even a limited strategic exchange would have on the USA, he is not going to accept millions of American deaths .
In this respect we are an easy target…
