Aren't you glad now that we left the EU?

And Germany is one of the continent’s worst offenders, producing almost 60 per cent more per head.

Yes, of course. They still burn coal…
as should we.

If coal reduces the quality of air I disagree. We have respiratory problems on the rise here and that’s one of my reasons for voting for Brexit the more people there is, the worse the quality of air gets.

I remember reading once that the parts of the UK where the air quality is the worst is because of the wind blowing the air across from Germany.

Hot water has been found in the old coal mines in the red wall seats which can be used for heating in the same way as they are using them in Cornwall.

Don’t modern coal-fired power stations have very effective filtration?
Drax, for example, used to burn coal until quite recently. Now we have to import wood chips for burning from America but don’t seem to worry about cutting down many trees (which themselves produce oxygen from CO2) and, of course, the oil-fired ships which transport the wood across the Atlantic to us.

I started my post with:

In other words I haven’t a clue. But I do know that for every tree that is cut down, we have to plant at least one new one.

Oh, that’s OK. America has trees coming out of their ears, so I’ve heard.
(I’m sure they have an appropriate medical treatment for it, though.)

We need more data, before we can be glad.

how many countries are in the EU and can you name them without looking up the answer

20, odd.

you mean “glad all over” yes we should be glad all over?

now name the even ones!!

gum pal, you ain’t here anymore, sorry but you need to drop the we. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I still own property there; visit regularly and have a british passport still - whats changed?

Time.

yea time ya learned to change a bit!

That ain’t goin to happen, to close to the end. :icon_wink:

so put ya down as a NO then?

Whatever, in the end, its just numero uno.

You don’t believe that do you ?
The rate that trees are cut down and the slow rate of growth ie decades would make it a difficult even if those in the business involved in cutting down trees are interested in planting them , unless they ar e palm oil .

They are very efficient at getting the dust out of the flu gases but it is not really the dust that is the problem it is the SOx, NOx and CO2 that is the issue and coal produces them by the tonne. Carbon sequestration has so far been an abject failure.
