Aren't you glad now that we left the EU?

Have you ever run a (successful) business?

Well well well…
The times they are a-changing, and Europe too?
“Seismic changes” on the way?

Is this Macrons ‘EU lite’ proposal ?

It very much reads that way, Muddy.

@Harbal , Exactly that Harby !
What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander!
Allthough l don’t agree with unions getting involved in telling the boss how to
run his business or in politics, l think it is now time to return to unionisation ??
Zero hours FFS !! We have gone back to the days of having to turn up every
day to see if you can work for the day ??
Gone are the days when the boss was the one who started the business and
who was capable of doing the job himself !
Now companies are corporations that bought the business and are run by
jobsworths with business degrees !?

Potentially another EU “Trap Door”, a door which, when slammed shut, traps three or four more members inside.

Remember the European Common Market?

A business is a “machine” to make money. That is the only reason for its existence.

Maybe from the point of view of its owner, but every business should be regulated in such a way as to make it beneficial to the community it serves. There are laws that govern the standards of the services or products it provides, why shouldn’t there also be regulations concerning employees? I don’t see why any business should be allowed to exist if its only beneficiary is itself.

@Maree, Well, well, well, Who would have thought it ?
I agree with EVERY THING you just said Maree !!
Just to say when l started my business l was the one l payed slave wages to !
And l did most of the work, and l was the one that supplied the initial
funding as well !! This continued like this for 17 yrs so l suppose you could
say the business was successful ??
I agree a lot of businesses now are trying. to run before they can walk and
start off with big cars etc and skimp on staff wages to do it !!

When the Tories took over the minimum wage was £5.93, now it’s £9.50 and as I’ve previously stated, they’ve also upped the amount before you have to start paying tax.

So that meant that somebody who was on £5.93 was paying tax to support Tony Blair’s Tax Credits and the likes of Tescos could get away with paying low wages and the employees having their wages topped up with other peoples taxes.

I totally disagree on every level.

See, I knew I was right. :slightly_smiling_face:

When you wack big companies with high amounts of corporation tax you dent their profits and dent pensions, employment and investments.

We should have a 16% corporation tax rate

Well let’s whack them with another tax instead, then? :102:

Zero corporation tax makes much more sense.

Stupid idea

So you like it then. :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:

It had to be done, satisfaction in the process was never a consideration.

A lot of people talking about socialism here but it’s not what I define it as.
It’s not state intervention or provision by the welfare state, it’s common ownership and It’s never been proposed by any political party. It’s the only answer to the inhumanity of capitalism. It will never happen though.
