Are you a good self-starter when you wake up each morning?

I’ve always been one to get up as soon as I have come to around 5am and realised I’ve made it safely through the hazard of night to greet yet another day granted by a power far greater than me. Then I’m straight down to my music workshop for an hour and then back into the kitchen to prep breakfast for my household.
I’m also interested to learn how the members in here start their day, so it’s over to you.

Watch it. I’m older than Sir Mick, but I will add I’m aging better😁

Being a lark, I’m up and about between 5 and 6, too, enjoying the quietness of the morning and being very active at the :computer: for an hour or two, answering emails, preparing the day, and checking in at various forums. Wouldn’t want to miss that.

I’m up early, 4.30 - 6ish usually, I couldn’t lie in even if I wanted to. Maybe we generally don’t need as much sleep as we get older.

First and foremost it’s coffee and then it’s just about appreciating that quite time to ponder before the day begins in earnest.

I don`t set my clock to get up,when i wake i read any e-mails,read MSN news, then do the bathroom routine, teeth etc.
Then make a cuppa and take one up for Mr H,and sit and chat and decide what if anything we are doing…
Life is very good indeed.

Having got up for work for such a long time, I still wake at six now I’m retired, can’t help it

My routine is to turn on my right side to direct my energy, give thanks for the day ahead, rub my hands together and palm my eyes, do a long multiplication in my head, get up gently and do my neck exercises,

Drink my water, take my medication, stand up gently, go to the loo, do a tai chi warm up, shower and dress, do hair and make up

Then make coffee and take the old man up one and drink it and have breakfast watching the news

Sounds long winded but takes 45 minutes to an hour at most

Ready for the off by 7 am!

I’m up at 5–.5.30am every day. My dogs and I are out on the common after I’ve had my wake up coffee which is always around 6am. This happens every day of the year in whatever weather we are suffering or enjoying at the time and the first of their four walks throughout the day. Back home, another coffee. I don’t have a breakfast, never have, never will. Then half an hour or so playing silly buggers on here followed by bath or shower depending on my mood. Then my day begins, often with a trip to the local swimming baths/leisure centre.

I get up at 6am most mornings, if I say i’m getting up at 6am then I automatically do.

If you are developing cataracts, don’t do that after your own lenses have been replaced, or you could cause some damage. I was warned not to even consider rubbing my eyes until at least 6 months had past. .:eyes:

Good advice, you do need to be very careful after that op, but it’s worth it, it’s such a good one

Palming doesn’t involve and rubbing or pressure but I still wouldn’t recommend it with cataracts or post op

I’m awake at around 5-30 a.m. sometimes earlier. I don’t get up but listen to the radio on headphones for an hour or so.

I had to get Mrs mart to a hospital some miles away for 8.00 a.m today. Seeing as how I knew there was early stuff to do, I didn’t sleep much at all and was up at 4-30 a.m.

My night and days mingle into one sometimes , when i do wake i have a cuppa T ,maybe with Toast , might go back to sleep .
I feel my day dont start till ive had two cups of T in bed and a Coffee when i get up .

Have to get up early to take my dog out.
I don’t know if he started the early morning walks or me hmmm ,either way it’s a set pattern now.

I’m woken by dog at 5.30ish … wash my face have a coffee and out we go rain or shine.
On return I sometimes slink back into bed

Whoa… Most people that have commented on this thread are very early starters. I am the opposite and go to bed approx midnight and then take some time to get to sleep.
I wake at 7:30 but often go back to sleep and get up at 8 a.m…
I take forever to wake up in the mornings and have always been like that whereas my husband is the opposite.
I am quiet and he is not, as he is fully awake when he opens his eyes and often starts talking about current affairs, politics or string theory!!
I have to put a timer on. :joy_cat:

I do so hope your wife is okay Mart.

I’m rarely in bed before midnight, but I do fall asleep somewhat quickly before I rise around 5hrs later. I’ve never needed more that 5hrs sleep each day, but if I do snooze during an afternoon, I always develop a headache.

06:00 breakfast in bed followed by sex with spitty, EZ, macy et al. Not literally of course, but fun & games on the boring thread. Then I’m ready to face the day.
