its hard to know what would have happened without an occurrence, the number of Care Homes that have sprung up of late, to accommodate the tail end of a bubble of ageing population means mortality rate statistics would have been skewed in the relatively near future probably.
It costs the earth to live in one of these ‘care’ homes. Anything from eleven hundred pounds upwards per week so why are the residents not getting the ‘care’ and protection they are paying these huge sums for?
They tell us the NHS are sending people who still have the virus to these homes.
I was under the impression they were ‘private’ care homes so what right has the ruling body got that enables them to do as they are doing.

I also read that about NHS off loading corona ber patients into
care homes??
I also heard that care homes are seeking assistance from gov
due to corona costs???

They were returning residents and they were charter flights organised by the Australian Government, some flew from Wuhan too but there was a total ban on all commercial flights from January and all visas were cancelled.
The only flights into Australia are carrying returning residents (and the Kiwi Warriors footie team) this has been the case since March, prior to that flights and visas were cancelled from Covid19 hotspots. All travellers arriving in Australia had to self isolate for 14 days, since March all arrivals are escorted to a hotel and are kept in their room under guard for 14 days.
Uks new infections are still stuck at around 3,000 new cases

Incoming air passengers are about 13,000 per day, some of whom
are just passing through ( no figures for this? )
So has someone decided that 21,000 new cases per week is an
acceptable level of new cases or are we totally unable to ever reach
the so called R1 figure required to completely banish this illness??

Sadly according to the news this morning in NSW there are 4 new cases all returning residents in quarantine but the state still has nearly 100 active cases with 3 in ICU and 2 on ventilators.

The figures are wildly inaccurate and can’t be relied upon Donkeyman, people who have recovered from the virus and can no longer pass it on would still get a positive reading because the test checks for antibodies.

I have to agree with you about international travellers, it makes a mockery out of everything we are trying to achieve.
We live about five miles from an airport and I noticed quite a few more flights yesterday, either from the airport or leaving trails across the clear blue sky while passing over, something I’ve not seen for quite a while.
A question if I may…If the virus is more lethal to the over fifties, why did we have to close the country down and freeze the economy? Surely all the under fifties could have continued to work and children left in school. Being as most teachers are under fifty…Except for Rhian; But she looks well under fifty anyway…

Yes, there ae a lot of unanswered questions.
Being just an ordinary bloke I cannot understand why this government is not barring all but essential flights into this country. Why have they not closed the Channel Tunnel to all but essential goods. Why are they standing by and watching the French costal patrols escort boat loads of immigrants into British waters. Why nothing seems to being done to prevent large gatherings of people at beaches, parks and other beauty spots. As usual I think things will get worse through the way they are handing this crisis and we will be forced into a more severe lockdown.
I feel the same BB, I think the government is driven by the media,
Which has its own agenda’s, and can direct gov policy by causing
alarm amongst the population and so influence decsions or
lack of decisions!
I dont know what can be done about i though as without media
the pratts in power could get away with anything?

Yesterday showed an astonishing minus 412 new cases, ( is this
actually possible)?
And allready today,( before figures are released,) it indicates that
there are once again over 2,600 new cases??
I suspect that a new employee has been given the job of posting
the daily figures?

They did this once before Donkeyman, they missed a day out and then put them all on to the next days figures.
Yes, l must have missed that OGF, They seem to have changed
their systems for some reason or other halfway through the
epidemic ( hopefully)! Why?
My main complaint is that they indicated that the new infection
rate had achieved a MINUS figure? This is physically impossible
imo, as once you reach zero you then have NO new cases and can
go no lower?
Then the very next day the new case figure was back around the
3,000 mark again?
