Anti-vaxxers alternative scenario

An ICU doctor has explained why people should get vaccinated by rebutting the typical hesitancy arguments.

Asked by Sky News’ Kay Burley what he would say to people who are still reluctant to get their jabs, Dr Ed Patrick, a COVID-19 intensive care unit anaesthetist rebutted the typical hesitancy arguments around not knowing what is in the vaccine.
He said: "What I’d say to people who are still hesitant is that if you end up with COVID and end up in hospital, you need a cocktail of drugs in order to keep you alive when you come into intensive care, all of which have side effects.

“The other thing to say is that people talk about the side effects with vaccines or that they’re worried about things like clots,” Dr Patrick added.

"Well COVID can give you clots and people who come into hospital who are suffering from COVID will go onto medication to help stop their blood clotting to that extent.

“So all this can be stopped by having the vaccine so if you’re on the fence about it or still wondering I definitely recommend getting one.”

Hi

The Doctor is right, but wasting his time.

There is a solution to this, no vaccine no treatment.

It is as simple as that.

It is your choice not to have the vaccine, it is your responsibility to protect others if you do get Covid.

Thank you Doctor…
I rest my case…And if you are fortunate enough not to require hospitalisation (as Mrs Fox and I were) there is no need for a cocktail of anything except a Martini… :clinking_glasses:
And I’ll have mine shaken not stirred…

More clot than James Bond I’m afraid. Depending on how the rest of my day pans out, I may very well have something more to say…and not entirely sure if it’s survivable!

I don’t doubt it for one minute Lindy…

I also read that, those who aren’t vaccinated ,if they have had covid, their immunity only lasts between 3 to 5 months?

Can you imagine having it, then having it again, I’m glad I took my chances and had all three,.i also read covid can also cause blood clots in the lungs plus strokes, who knows what it can do if you already have an existing heart condition as well.

Ouch!..

When I received my booster yesterday I was talking to my doctor about vaccine hesitancy, he said that about 5% of the population will resist having the vaccine but that is just about OK to achieve herd immunity.

I just had another look at the NSW Health web site which provides the current figures and first doses seem to have been stuck at 94.9% for weeks now while all the other figures slowly creep up.

COVID-19 vaccination in NSW

NSW COVID-19 vaccination rate Total* (ages 16 and over) Total* (ages 12-15)
All providers – first doses 94.9% 81.4%
All providers – fully vaccinated 93.4% 78.1%

Vaccination clinics are going well but it is the testing facilities that are being overwhelmed with the requirement for interstate travellers to have a PCR test before arrival (as well as being double vaccinated). The radio was reporting this morning that the queue of cars for the main facility in Wollongong already stretched several blocks at 8am (22nd Dec) and that the police were again shutting streets and directing traffic.

You’re wasting your breath on anti-vaxers/maskers @Lindyloo , to my mind they are incredibly stupid, selfish and not a little cowardly.

Stupid yes because they would rather believe some thick twat on the internet with little or no qualifications rather than the wealth of professional experts with knowledge of the vaccines, even though they themselves have probably had many vaccines over the years that have protected them from dozens of different illnesses and conditions.

Selfish yes because they don’t give a toss about anyone but themselves and the costs of looking after them if the get covid, and I mean not just in monetary terms but also in human terms by denying care to others with other, often more serious life threatening conditions in the process.

And cowardly yes, because although we are all supposed to be in this together, it appears that the anti-vaxers/makers are determined that everyone else should prove the safety of the vaccine before they dare to chance it themselves. I’m just pleased I didn’t have to serve alongside them in combat…

Having said all that though, I think that even if they changed their minds with the weight of evidence against them they wouldn’t admit it, they have taken such an extreme stance that they would be even terrified of losing face, but such is cowardice I guess…

Kay Burley broke the lockdown rules as well. She should have been fired.

She returned after an imposed 6 month absence,:open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth:

Thanks for you balanced opinion Barry.
I suppose I fit your rather scathing criteria even though the only vaccine I have ever refused is the covid 19 vaccine, and will continue to do so in the future. I have refused the vaccine for many reasons that have been well documented on the forum so I shall refrain from repeating myself for the umteenth time, and besides, you will never understand the reasons anyway. But It was my decision based on information from many sources, including some well respected medical opinion, and not necessarily some [Quote] ‘Thick Twat’ on the internet, or some journalist on the BBC receiving cherry picked information from a carefully selected bunch of so called scientists. Oh! And Boris, that well known virologist.

I can only speak personally when say my wife and I caught the virus last August and managed to struggle through without taking up a precious hospital bed and denying a vaxxed person the help they urgently needed. Although why a vaxxed person would be occupying a hospital bed would be surprising, considering that the magic vaccine is all things to all persons and surely would prevent serious illness.

So despite always wearing our masks while making very rare appearances in public and observing the ten day isolation period to protect others, we managed to survive.
I think fighting for Queen and country can not be compared to refusing a vaccine and I can assure you Barry, that if you were my comrade in arms you would certainly never have to worry about who was watching your back.

And on your last point, I openly posted on the forum when I caught covid, even though it meant cutting a large portion of humble pie, and will continue to admit if I am wrong, but at this point in time, I don’t think I am as I was suspicious that the vaccine would provide the protection you thought it would once the cold weather of winter was upon us, and it appears I was correct.
The vaccines were developed to prevent serious illness and putting pressure on the NHS but for every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction, and not only is the vaccine preventing natural immunity, it will have damaged the immunity of our young folk for years to come, and I believe we are creating a human that will have to be vaccinated maybe twice a year for life in order to survive.

Meanwhile in Wales …

It’s OK to go to the pub, but go to work and you get fined £60.

Socialism …

All what you said Barry and to which I will add → Why do the anti brigade think many governments worldwide have spent countless millions researching the virus and then more assisting vaccine production? It sure wasn’t for fun!! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
