A Tripod I Quite Like

Not that long a go I bought a Ulanzi tripod. Tripods are things I don’t use very much they are generally cumbersome and heavy but this one is not too bad.

For a start it has four section legs which make it much shorter than tripods I have had in the past, it also has the usual centre extension which can take it to a height above my head but it has no winding mechanism just a slide which reduces weight. It also has no leg bracing again reducing weight.

The only thing I dislike about it is the head which is a slide and clamp feature I wanted an F38 head but they seem rarer than hens teeth but this one does take a F38 mount so it is acceptable (just).

This is the F38 attachment on my video camera.

They click into place and the mount is single sided.

Overall it is not a bad tripod, it is not something I will use a lot but it is occasionally handy and I like the fact that this one is so small yet relatively light and sturdy.

My older tripods have gone in the bin. I still carry my G clamp thing with me.

I still have this thing which is even smaller but much less sturdier, I have fitted it with a F38 head

Oh dear o dear, why on earth did you not vasm me about tripods?
The one I would have highly recomended id the manfrotto Befree live metal or carbon version. wth clamp type legs

fold down to 16 inches and up to 56 inches.

But that is not all it does
the centre column includes a ball head making levelling upso much easier

Next is the actual head being a swiss arca type

this allows a camcorder or camera to balance properly on the head

of course it does have screw clamps to stop tilt etc
