A petition asking for another General Election

 :stuck_out_tongue:
A party coup combined with public pressure might just do it in a couple of years time- again. Net zero targets will be the end.

I canā€™t stand Starmer and the rest of his genocidal war-mongering greed-infested party but I canā€™t stand the tories (and their ilk) even more as they are even worse.

Hereā€™s a couple of alternative points of viewā€¦

Does make you wonder doesnā€™t it - this only really took off after the rich who have bought farms to avoid inheritance tax were about to be asked to pay some, and not even their proper fair share but HALF what the rest of us would be paying!

Too many rich people control this country, our governments and politicians. We donā€™t need another general election, we need a revolution!!

But the voters arenā€™t all right wing though are they Boot. There will no doubt be a lot of lefty labour supporters who are not happy with Starmers plansā€¦
Itā€™s kinda expected that people living in their own house, with a nice car, living in a nice area, and have some disposable income, perhaps a good private pension or a husbands works pension are most of the people who are either happy with, or not concerned with Keir Starmerā€™s idea of a better Britainā€¦But better for who? Starmer?

Itā€™s also funny to think that the remainers are still complaining about the result of the Brexit referendum after 8 years, and then complain about people who think they are been hard done by Starmers extreme waste of public money. Which incidentally Brexit having no bearing or relevance concerning this petition.
The petition (in my opinion) will not provoke another general election, as I posted earlier, but it will be an indication of the mood of the general population. The establishment have many tools at their disposal to corrupt and sway public opinion in the result of this petition, including the majority of news outlets. You will not hear much airtime on the BBC.

We donā€™t know if itā€™s the mood of the general population, thereā€™s so much interference with the internet we donā€™t know how many are genuine voters, or if they have been instigated by other countriesā€¦brexit is still being complained about because it has ruined the country, but, it was a democratic vote just as the election was a democratic vote and yet, people are still complaining about itā€¦

The Prime Ministerā€™s official spokesman added Sir Keir was ā€œfocused on the issues that matter most to the British peopleā€.

Some of the UK constituencies with the highest number of signatories appear to be Tory-held seats.

More than 5,800 people have signed it in Brentwood and Ongar where shadow Cabinet Office minister Alex Burghart is MP, while 5,200 have signed it in Tory chief whip Rebecca Harrisā€™s Castle Point constituency.

If this statement from official spokesperson is correct Labour would not be sinking. The ā€œTitanic mode,ā€ obscure sets of policies, misconduct, sending them to the bottom.

I canā€™t see the number signing means much. I didnā€™t vote Labour but isnā€™t it likely that many who didnā€™t vote for them will take any opportunity to do so again? Itā€™s like another general election but an unofficial one.

That sounds awfully like a conspiracy theory Primus, are you taking over my job?
:astonished:

itā€™s not just about exports though. I can see Labour moving to far closer ties with the EU because they will never generate the growth they are after without that. I canā€™t see how we will ever be a sovereign nation sucking up to Donald instead. We are already being told off for having an opinion on Bibiā€™s status.

At the moment Iā€™d put up with pretty much any short term pain if it helps get rid of the government. I had assumed this would in the form of food shortages, power cuts and a general strike but of it ends up being an economic battle with the US so be it . Whatever it takes to get a vote of no confidence works for me

When you say ā€œthe voters arenā€™t all right wingā€ , do you mean that the people who signed the petition calling for another General Election arenā€™t all right wing?

I concede there may be some disgruntled people who voted Labour and now regret it - but I would bet my bottom dollar that Petition has more signatures from Reform and Tory Voters than from Labour Voters.

Considering that this Petition was started by a man who voted Conservative and it has been picked up and promoted by prominent Right Wing politicians and activists or anti-Labour people in the public eye (e.g. Elon Musk, Farage, Tice and several MPs from the right of the Tory Party) I would imagine that the majority of the signatures on that petition are people who follow and support those Right Wing politicians.

I have seen quite a few people online declare they never voted for Labour in the first place but they have signed the Petition for another GE - lots of people who donā€™t get the Government they would really like may wish to re-run the Election when it suits them but thatā€™s not how the system works. This Petition smacks of Opposition Parties trying to leverage the current unpopularity of the government to their own advantage.

My guess is that the vast majority of those signing the Petition never believed in the Labour Manifesto or voted for Labour in the last election, so they cannot honestly claim now that they were duped by Labourā€™s manifesto and it affected the way they voted.

I doubt there will be an economic battle because we will do as we are told. Sovereignity in name only.

I was discussing this petition with a friend who I usually describe as being somewhere to the left of Corbyn. He surprised me saying he and many of his like minded friends have signed this petition as he feels the government have gone against many socialist policies, targeting the people the party was set up to support. He believes the Labour party have lost sight of its origins

The right idea but wonā€™t happen. Idle words. Worried because the Labour Party are not just repeating many of the mistakes which Conservatives made in Government, they are doubling down on them and combining them with an unprecedented raid on business.

" The old adage, ā€œthink before you speakā€, has a lot of value.
