A petition asking for another General Election

A petition has been called to oust the present government due to their misleading manifesto at the last general election. Mrs Fox and me have both voted because we consider Keir Starmer to be a war monger and dangerous PM who will take this country to war. He has also taken away fuel allowance from the many pensioners who will have to decide between Heat and Eat, I personally know at least one who has been too frightened to use her central heating and sits in the cold. He has also been hostile to farmers and would prefer to see our farmland purchased by big conglomerates, import more food, and build houses on farmland and greenbelt land.
I could probably list quite a few more reasons but that will do for now
Please vote here if you wish to see and end to this stupidity and a waste of public money chasing silly projects and financing wars while our country and it’s people suffer

At the time of posting the petition has reached almost a quarter of a million votes.

Not sure what to make of it, they were voted in on being fiscally astute so, they do seem hellbent on balancing the books as per the manifesto.

I have signed and didn’t vote for them in the first place . Is there anyone to take over though ?? We seem to be in the brown sticky stuff when it comes to politicians and prospective party leaders x

I understand that the petition has reached the 500K mark and that a very obvious message is being sent, but is the goal to actually call an election? Can that realistically happen?

I don’t think so. And I do hope that politicians on all sides refuse to take this petition seriously. That would make a mockery of all and everything.

I didn’t vote for him, but he won fair & square. End of.

Not really, because in this day and age, any idiot can start a gibberish petition on the internet with a couple of clicks. If the system’s secure, and yes vote numbers were in the 20Ms, people might sit up and listen. But there would be anarchy on the streets well before that.

If it’s the only way people can express their opposition then so be it

Usual old Usual. 50/50 syndrome.
Apathetic quartile + Inpatient quartile.
As one long been a Tory.
Arrive BoJo with his pantomime script and a cast of dilatory Backbenchers. Never again.
So Labour it was.
Amazed to recognise that Starmer, had enough nouse to appoint a proactive Reformative cabinet.
Just 5 months in and 15yrs of Chaos already in motion. Whistle-blowers out of the woodwork exposing the opaque dross.
Sure Reforming is going to hurt. [Taking candy away from a ‘Nanny State’ kid]
Nothing emerging from chaos comes without Effort, Interim Unpopularity,Patience and Determination.

Another Election!!! >> Election of Who and or What!!
Another Bunch @ Lunch, on the Starting Line.
Adds another 10yrs, to any semblance of reform.

Good idea, and while we’re at it, let’s have a vote on rejoining the EU

On a wet & windy Sunday afternoon, yay, all good fun for aging anarchists.

Don’t you have enough elections? We have the Federal election next year (three year term) , State Government election in 2027 (four year term) ad the local government elections in 2028 (4 year term) by which time there will be another Federal election.

And you want to have another one? Bloody mad. Thank gawd for 2026!

Crikey - if we don’t like the result of an election, should we demand another election 4 months later?
These Righty snowflakes should learn that’s not the way it works!

Over 4m people signed the petition asking for another Brexit referendum. Completely ineffective.

Apparently almost 2m have now signed the petition. Whilst I don’t think for a moment that it will result in a General Election, hopefully it will make the government realise just how unpopular some of their decisions have been and cause them to have a rethink.

They keep saying they have to make “difficult decisions”, yet none of those decisions seem to affect them (still claiming their “energy” allowance and maintaining the subsidised restaurants and bars - who else has a subsidised bar at work!) nor have they said they will be reviewing the £360 per day paid to those who turn up at the House of Lords

It won’t prompt a general election Surfermom, it could produce a vote of no confidence by the labour benches in which case they would appoint a new leader of the party as the conservatives did with Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and finally ended up with Rishi Sunak who wasn’t voted in at all.

Obviously Keir Starmer has been elected by a pack of lies, and if he had put in his manifesto all the things that he has done since taking power he would not have won the election. For a start, all the pensioners who have had their winter fuel allowance taken away would not have voted, all the university students would not have voted, the absolutely insane idea that carbon capture is going to make one jot of difference to the climate (but will keep this country poor especially those in poverty) and covering hectares of valuable farm land with solar panels is just insane.
He is also not afraid of sending our young people to war (don’t worry he won’t be fighting) by provoking the Russians.
No, the petition won’t make any difference other than demonstrating the mood of the people because politicians don’t seem to look any further than their range rovers and big centrally heated houses.
I’m not going to start a discussion about this, and I don’t want to argue with people who I consider friends, but I posted the petition for anyone who is unhappy with the way that Keir Starmer has started his time in office and would like to declare their discontent.
Either vote, or don’t vote, your choice and it makes no difference to me

Incidentally
the petition has reached over two million disgruntled voters.

So you think it’s only ‘Righty Snowflakes’ who are voting their displeasure at the way Starmer is wasting our money Boot?
Nobody said they don’t like the result of the election, but Starmer was elected on a pack of lies.
And nobody wants to see another election
We know it doesn’t work like that
A very patronising statement Boot

But it does describe the mood of the electorate, and maybe
Just maybe, it might provoke a vote of no confidence in Keir Starmer by his own party.

The petition hasn’t closed yet Annie and it has reached over two million in just 48 hours

One of the biggest protests was to stop the war in Iraq and look how that went

In a supposedly democratic country are you saying that if people don’t like something they should just ‘Shut up’?

Give it time d00d

Are we missing something here?
