I’m just reading in the news that most shops are going to be closed on the day of the queens funeral so that staff can watch it / out of respect / as its a bank holiday

This isn’t a new decision, though - we haven’t only just heard about it - it has been public knowledge since 1993, when it was announced in Parliament and widely reported by the Press.
It was part of the agreement between the Government and the Sovereign when they arranged for the Queen to start paying Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax on her private income and investments.
She is a piece of something- no denying.
