2022 Winter Fuel Payment

Just checked - mine has arrived too.

Mine went in yesterday … :+1:

It went towards my new specs … :eyeglasses:

I’m still waiting and the first letter of my name is S.

Nothing here yet, and some people have been getting their Christmas £10 in as well.

My £10 arrived on the 5th … :slightly_smiling_face:

Our £10’s arrived today and husband had his winter fuel payment a couple of weeks ago, but I am still waiting for mine.

Our £10’s went into our bank today.

Mine went in today.

That’s interesting to know, the council rates here were assessed on land values which are assessed every two years by the state government (you get a letter telling you how your land has been assessed)

Some years ago now the Wollongong Council decided that this system wasn’t fair to old ladies with sea views living on million dollar blocks so they changed it so 50% of the rate was based on land values and 50% being the same for every residential property. As the total rate income is capped by the state government it meant that poorer suburbs paid more in rates and richer suburbs paid less.

There was no rioting in the streets or even a murmur of protest apart from a couple of letters in the local paper even though there should have been

I phoned the number on my letter today, the lady who answered the phone, said that there is a delay in the winter fuel payments being made, due to the cost of living payments, that they also have to pay into pensioners accounts…if we haven’t got our fuel allowance by the 13-1-2023,then we are to call them, on the number that is on our letter, your national insurance number ready, when you call them.

They must get fed up of people phoning in when it says on the letter you don’t need to unless you haven’t got yours by the middle of January .7

Actually, no she didn’t, I was confused as to what I was getting, so she explained it all to me.

I wasn’t enquiring about non payment of winter fuel payment, she explained all that I would get, which included the winter fuel payment.

The reason that you enquire at that date is, they are then able to help you if you haven’t been paid,…not before.

This is my first year as a state pensioner, so this is all extra money I’m not used to receiving.
I’ve just discovered that my first ever Winter Fuel Payment has been paid into my account. The extra Cost of Living payment made it a total of £500, which is a useful sum of money at this time of year. :+1:

  • now I see from this thread that we’ll be getting an extra £10 as a Christmas Bonus too -
Cor! that’s very nice (but is the cost of making all those payments worth it for such a paltry sum?) I might treat myself to a box of chocolates with that!

I received my £10 yesterday and was going to use it to have my car cleaned but a box of chocolates sounds a much better idea!

Oh, I think the idea of paying someone else to clean my car sounds like a luxury treat too - especially at this time of year when wielding a wet sponge on a cold day plays havoc with my arthritic finger joints!

My £10 has more or less paid for my allotment book, seeing as not giving it to sis to give back to me as a Christmas gift!

My husband got his plus the extra tenner but I haven’t checked mine yet. He also got the £67 or whatever it was for the energy pay back.

The £10 Christmas bonus payment it’s paid each year imo is a waste and should be stopped . I didn’t know I got it … until chatting to a friend , and yes there it was on my bank statement.

Something seriously sensible could be done with that money

Oh please don’t knock it
There are lots of pensioners who need it and in case you didn’t know others on certain other benefits get it too .
